Honors Math 7.5 introduces advanced seventh through ninth graders (ages 12–15) to important topics in discrete math rarely seen in a traditional curriculum.
Live instructors introduce students to advanced subfields of mathematics and teach problem-solving techniques that help them succeed beyond the classroom.
View the course syllabus for full class information and a list of topics.
Students who complete Honors or Contest Math 7, Introduction to Algebra, are generally ready for Honors Math 7.5. We recommend that students take the Honors Math 7.5 placement exam to confirm whether they are ready for this course.
Our expert instructors use Art of Problem Solving curriculum to teach Honors Math 7.5: Introduction to Counting & Probability and Introduction to Number Theory. AoPS curriculum is a much broader and deeper exploration of challenging mathematics than a typical math curriculum, preparing students for success at top universities and in competitive careers.
These courses cover the Art of Problem Solving Introduction to Counting & Probability and Introduction to Number Theory books.
Honors Math 7.5A In this course, students master the basics of combinatorics and probability, including permutations and combinations, advanced counting techniques, the binomial theorem, expected value, geometric probability, and more.
Honors Math 7.5B In this course, students master the basics of number theory, including number bases, divisibility, prime numbers, the Euclidean algorithm, modular arithmetic, linear congruences, the Chinese Remainder theorem, and more.
Our instructors hold classes virtually, in a small-sized (10-16 students) videoconferencing classroom.
There are about 1 to 3 hours of homework each week. There is one timed final exam at the end of each course.
Visit our tuition page to learn more about our drop and refund policies.

Theorem 1. A number is a square if and only if it has an odd number of factors. Proof. If the number is not a square, then the factors all come in pairs, thus there are an even number of them. If the number is a square, all of the factors are in pairs except the square root. So the total number of factors is odd.
