1989/1992 FP logo

  • Original variant: Medium. Some people might not like the font the words are written in. Also, the sudden fanfare and/or the announcer may get to some people.
  • Special Previews variant: None to low, since the fanfare's volume sounds lowered and a more friendly voice is used.
  • Navy Blue variant: Medium to nightmare because of the darker background, as well as the sudden fanfare, announcer, and style of font. The scare factor may be raised due to the logo being followed by the distorted Walt Disney Classics logo. This variant overall seems more ominous than the other variants.
  • None to minimal for those who are used to seeing both the original variant and the Navy Blue variant.

1992-1995 FP logo

  • On the 1992 release of So Dear to My Heart , the same voiceover from the 1989 FP with Grant Goodeve was heard.
  • On the original 1992 VHS of Father of the Bride , there is a different voiceover (possibly Grant Goodeve?).

1995/1999 FP logo

  • Skip to 9:51 in the video to see the logo.
  • Throughout the previews for the film, Jodi Benson (who was the voice actress for Ariel in The Little Mermaid ) converses with two computer-animated talking goldfish (named Gil and Phil, respectively) in a fishbowl about the Disney-related films among other events and offers showcased in the previews. At the end of the previews, the logo is shown on a small television set, from within the fishbowl (from Gil and Phil's perspective).
  • Gil: "Yeah, the shrimp!" (This is in response to Jodi listing off Flounder as one of the characters from the film they -and by extension the audience- are about to watch.)
  • Phil: "Well, grab a seat, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show."

Controversy Strikes Disney World as Multi-Million Dollar Expansion Gets Private Funding

in Walt Disney World

Mickey Mouse closing his eyes while a business man secretly hands money to another man inside of Disney World.

Even more controversy has struck Disney World recently as a multi-million dollar expansion project has been announced to be entirely privately funded, with the House of Mouse forgoing millions in fees.

The Disney Affordable Housing Project to Be Privately Funded, All Fees Waived for WDW

The Walt Disney World Resort has reached out to subscribers of the MouseMail newsletter, available through the Disney Florida website , to share an update on the Affordable Housing project planned near Walt Disney World. This update comes on the heels of a recent community meeting. It heralds the next phase of the process : a forthcoming presentation to the Orange County Board of County Commissioners scheduled for the following week.

In the communication, Rena Langley, Senior Vice President of Communications & Public Affairs for Walt Disney World Resort, offers insights into the progression of the initiative, which was formally announced in April 2022.

Langley underscores that while Disney does not anticipate financial gain from the project, the company is committed to addressing the escalating demand for affordable housing, as identified by Orange County leaders. Disney aims to catalyze similar endeavors among companies and organizations across Central Florida and beyond.

Concept artwork for the Disney World affordable housing project coming in 2026.

Emphasizing the project’s autonomous nature, Langley highlights that Disney’s affordable housing initiative is entirely privately funded. She underscores that the developer will absorb substantial impact fees, voluntarily waiving all eligible fee exemptions, amounting to millions of contributions.

Expressing gratitude for the supportive residents and acknowledging the valuable feedback received from local communities , Langley reassures residents that Disney values their input. She emphasizes the importance of community engagement and assures residents that their voices play a pivotal role in shaping Disney’s initiatives.

The Planning Division of the Orange County Government recently convened a community meeting focused on Disney’s affordable housing project for residents residing in the Horizon West area. Notably, this meeting represents the second gathering of its kind, deviating from the customary practice of holding a single community meeting within the standard rezoning process. The decision to have a second meeting was prompted by resident opposition voiced during the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on February 15.

Concept artwork for the Disney World affordable housing project.

Walt Disney World is spearheading the development of an affordable housing community slated to encompass approximately 1,400 units, with over 1,000 designated as affordable housing units. Anticipated to open its doors in 2026, this community initiative sees Disney contributing nearly 80 acres of land towards the endeavor. The development will be undertaken and managed by The Michaels Organization and strategically situated near schools, shopping centers, and the iconic Magic Kingdom theme park.

The project’s primary objective is to assist renters grappling with escalating housing expenses , enabling them to prioritize personal development and financial stability. Under the project’s guidelines, families consisting of four individuals can qualify for affordable housing if their annual income falls within the range of $43,900 to $85,700.

What do you think about Disney World getting private funding for this multi-million dollar project?

Disney's D23 Expo 2024 is hosting panels at the Honda Center, including the Disney Legends ceremony ...

Disney's D23 Expo 2024 Is Growing With Legendary Stars Like Miley

Hannah Montana is getting her dues.

Disney just dropped new details about the House of Mouse’s 2024 D23 Expo, sharing that this year’s ultimate fan event is going to be bigger and better than ever. Not only will the Disney fan con in California be expanding this year, but the list of legends they’ll be honoring includes Hannah Montana herself, Miley Cyrus .

The Disney Legends showcase, which is usually held at the beginning of D23 Expo to kick off the weekend, is getting pushed to Sunday evening, and moving to the Honda Center. Disney’s decision to relocate the biggest panels of the weekend to the arena in Anaheim allows for more fans to participate and teases an even bigger showcase each night.

D23 Expo is like Disney’s version of Comic Con. It’s where the brand announces new films and experiences coming to the parks with some of their biggest stars. In previous years, Walt’s company has announced additions to Avengers Campus and new Frozen lands coming to the parks , and the event has been a who’s who of celebrities. D23 Expo is actually where Mark Ruffalo infamously spoiled Avengers: Infinity War and Pedro Pascal showed off his dadcore style in a floral button-down.

2024’s D23 Expo will take place Aug. 9 through Aug. 11, and is expected to be just as epic. Here are all the details you need to know about tickets, showcases, and how to see Cyrus IRL:

D23 Expo Is Starting Early This Year With A Day At Disneyland

Outside Disney's D23 Expo, which is happening again in August 2024.

The D23 Expo takes place in Anaheim, right across the street from the Disneyland Resort. While you can always go into the parks after the convention closes each day, most people opt to rest up for the next day of panels and experiences. The expo often runs from Friday to Sunday, but this year, they’re adding a D23 Day at the Disneyland on Thursday.

On Aug. 8, the Disneyland Resort is offering unique experiences at both parks as well as Downtown Disney for D23 Expo. There will be special photo ops, food, and merch, in addition to a dance party at Disneyland.

The Three Big Showcases Will Include A Disney Legends Ceremony With Miley Cyrus

Disney is honoring Miley Cyrus and other Disney stars with a legends award at D23 Expo in August.

Each night of D23 Expo, there will be a big showcase held at Honda Center. This is the first time Disney is expanding their convention, and it’s to make sure even more fans are there for their big announcements.

On Friday, Disney will have the Disney Entertainment Showcase at 7 p.m., showcasing new series and films from their animation studios, Marvel, and Lucasfilm. Fans may also get exclusive looks at these new projects from the celeb-filled presentation.

If you’re more of a parks fan, you’ll want to attend the Disney Experiences Showcase on Saturday at 7 p.m. This presentation includes all the latest on upcoming projects coming to Disney’s parks around the world along with Disney Cruise Line.

Miley Cyrus is being honored as a Disney Legend at D23 Expo in August 2024.

The final night is when the Disney Legends Ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. This is where Cyrus along with the rest of the 2024 class of legends will be honored with Disney’s highest achievement in the company. The Hannah Montana star is the youngest person ever to be awarded a Disney Legend, and she’ll be among some film and TV greats like Angela Bassett, James Cameron, Jamie Lee Curtis, Harrison Ford, John Williams, Frank Oz, and Imagineer Joe Rohde.

There Will Be Exclusive Merch, Photo Moments, And Sharpay’s Car From High School Musical

D23 Expo 2024 will have Sharpay's car on display from 'High School Musical.'

During the day, explore the show floor at D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center. Booths from Pixar, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Disney+, and Marvel are always a must-see, including the Walt Disney Archives exhibit. This year’s exhibition, A Great Big Beautiful Car Show, will have famous Disney vehicles, like Sharpay’s car from High School Musical.

Disney also teased that there will be even more exclusive merch for you to shop at different stores, like Mickey’s of Glendale, The Hollywood Studio Store, The Emporium, and an all-new Walt Disney Company Store. When you’re not shopping or taking pics, there are tons of panels and presentations to fill your day.

You Could Win A Trip On Disney’s Newest Cruise Ship

You could win a seven-day cruise on the Disney Treasure at the D23 Expo 2024.

D23 Expo will also be giving away FANtastic Prizes each day. You can enter each day of the expo, and one prize includes a seven-day vacay on Disney’s latest cruise ship, the Treasure. The Disney Treasure sets sail in December 2024, and has a Haunted Mansion -themed lounge and Moana stage show.

The Ticket System Is A Little Confusing This Year

Disney's D23 Expo has a tiered ticket system for 2024.

Instead of just having one-day or three-day tickets, D23 Expo has a new tiered ticket system to accommodate the three showcases. If you want to go to the convention and don’t care about the big presentations, there are D23 Fan Pass tickets for just the Anaheim Convention Center only. However, if you’d like a guaranteed seat at the Honda Center, Disney has introduced D23 Ultimate Fan Pass tickets that are a little more expensive.

These passes include assigned seats for evening shows as well as access to the convention center during the day. The cheapest of the Ultimate Fan Pass tickets are for seats in the 400 level at the Honda Center, but if you want to be closer to stars like the “Flowers” singer and Indiana Jones, you’ll want to splurge for the D23 Preferred Ultimate Fan Pass ticket.

Tickets for Disney's D23 Expo 2024 go on sale starting March 26.

There are also different dates for when tickets go on sale, depending on your D23 status. You must be a member to buy tickets, but a General membership is free. You just need to sign up. A Gold membership is $100 a year, and one perk is that you get to purchase tickets for D23 Expo starting March 26 at 12 p.m. PT. If you’re a D23 Gold or General member and a Visa cardholder, tickets will be available on March 27 at 12 p.m. Everyone else will get a chance to buy tickets on March 28 at 12 p.m.

To help you decide which tickets you want to get, here’s a breakdown on all the prices:

One-Day Tickets

  • D23 Fan Pass for Gold Members — $79
  • D23 Fan Pass for General Members — $89
  • D23 Ultimate Fan Pass with 400 Level Upper Rows at Honda Center — $99
  • D23 Ultimate Fan Pass with 400 Level Lower Rows at Honda Center — $149
  • D23 Ultimate Fan Pass with 200 Level Stage Adjacent at Honda Center — $189
  • D23 Ultimate Fan Pass with 200 Level at Honda Center — $249

Three-Day Tickets

  • D23 Fan Pass for Gold Members — $209
  • D23 Fan Pass for General Members — $259
  • D23 Ultimate Fan Pass with 400 Level Upper Rows at Honda Center — $297
  • D23 Ultimate Fan Pass with 400 Level Lower Rows at Honda Center — $447
  • D23 Ultimate Fan Pass with 200 Level Stage Adjacent at Honda Center — $567
  • D23 Ultimate Fan Pass with 200 Level at Honda Center — $747
  • D23 Preferred Ultimate Fan Pass with Sections 110 to 112 at Honda Center — $999
  • D23 Preferred Ultimate Fan Pass with Sections 107 to 109 at Honda Center — $1499
  • D23 Preferred Ultimate Fan Pass with Sections 104 to 107 at Honda Center — $2099
  • D23 Preferred Ultimate Fan Pass with Sections 101 to 103 at Honda Center — $2599

To help you get to and from the Honda Center, there will be complimentary round-trip shuttle service. While spending over $2,500 seems like a lot, the cheapest tickets for D23 Expo really aren’t that bad considering all the exclusive experiences there are for hardcore Disney fans. Plus, it may be worth it to see Hannah Montana since Cyrus has said she won’t be touring anytime soon.

Why Lady And The Tramp's Classic Spaghetti Scene Was Almost Cut — By Walt Disney

  • Lady and the Tramp's spaghetti scene almost didn't make it due to Walt Disney's concerns over its presentation.
  • Animator Frank Thomas defied Disney's doubts and crafted the iconic scene, showcasing his creative resilience.
  • Thomas' legacy, celebrated in the documentary "Frank and Ollie," highlights his impact on animation history.

In the annals of cinematic history, Lady and the Tramp shines as a beacon of animated storytelling, cherished for its heartwarming tale of love that crosses social divides, accentuated by the iconic Lady and the Tramp spaghetti scene. The Oscar-snubbed Lady and the Tramp narrates the enchanting story of Lady, an elegant Cocker Spaniel, and Tramp, a cunning stray mutt, whose unlikely romance is beautifully captured in the now-iconic spaghetti dinner scene. This scene, emblematic of innocent love, has cemented its place in the hearts of viewers across generations, becoming a defining moment of the film.

However, this beloved sequence was on the verge of being cut from the movie. Concerns from Walt Disney about the scene's presentation threatened its inclusion, fearing it wouldn't align with the film's polished aesthetic. The potential removal of the spaghetti scene underscores the challenges and creative disagreements that can arise in the making of an animated classic, highlighting the delicate balance between vision and execution in storytelling. While the Lady and the Tramp spaghetti scene has a legacy of its own, it almost never happened.

Lady And The Tramp: Why The Dogs Have Their Names

Walt disney thought lady and the tramp's spaghetti scene wouldn't be clean-cut enough, animator frank thomas created the scene anyway.

The spaghetti scene stands as a testament to the power of visual storytelling, transcending language and culture to evoke the universal joys of love and companionship. However, Walt Disney himself initially doubted the scene's potential . Concerns were raised about the logistics of depicting two dogs sharing a plate of spaghetti in a manner that would be both appealing and dignified. Disney archivist Steven Vagnini recounted (via Yahoo ):

Walt wasn’t convinced that that would be a very clean-cut scene. As you can imagine, if you have two pets and they eat a plate of spaghetti, it’s hard to envision that being too graceful.

This skepticism nearly led to the scene's exclusion from the final film. Yet, the spaghetti sequence was saved by the ingenuity and determination of Frank Thomas , a directing animator at Disney and a legend in his own right. Thomas, undeterred by Disney's reservations, took it upon himself to craft a rough version of the scene. His initiative and creativity ultimately swayed Disney's opinion. Art director Andy Gaskill recalled (via Lady's Pedigree: The Making of Lady and the Tramp ):

Frank Thomas, one of the company's greatest animators, went against his bosses' wishes, and put something together anyway. Aren't we grateful that Frank actually persisted, that he didn't listen to Walt? He said 'No, I'm gonna make this work and I'll show him. I'll show him that it's gonna be entertaining.'

Through sheer perseverance, Frank Thomas not only rescued the iconic spaghetti scene from the brink of exclusion but also immortalized it as one of the most unforgettable moments in cinematic lore. His steadfast commitment transformed a moment of doubt into a legendary scene, ensuring its celebrated place in film history.

Singin' In The Rain & 9 Other Best Hollywood Movies Of The 1950s

Lady and the tramp animator frank thomas is the subject of a documentary, frank and ollie celebrates thomas & his collaborator, ollie johnston.

The Lady and the Tramp spaghetti scene's near-miss with oblivion and its subsequent rescue highlight the remarkable contributions of Frank Thomas to animation. His legacy, along with that of his collaborator Ollie Johnston, is celebrated in the 1995 documentary Frank and Ollie . This film delves into the lives and careers of these two animation giants, offering insights into their creative processes and the impact of their work on the best Disney animated movies . Thomas' portfolio is a veritable who's who of animated classics, including pivotal roles in the creation of Bambi, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella , and many others.

Frank and Ollie is available to watch on Disney+.

Thomas' influence extends beyond his technical skill; his ability to imbue characters with depth and emotion helped to elevate animation to an art form. His work on Lady and the Tramp , particularly the spaghetti scene, serves as a prime example of his talent for storytelling through animation. It's a scene that could have been lost to caution and convention but instead became a symbol of romantic idealism and creative resilience, thanks to Thomas' vision and tenacity.
