Status effects are a neat little side topic because it's another thing you can try to optimize around. The question, though, is whether or not you should. Let's look at the cases for each status and whether it makes sense to build up resistance or attack.

But first, a word about your innate resistance. You have individual resist skills for each status, though there's a bit of confusion about what they do and how to build them. Each skill provides 1% resistance for every 2 levels you have in that skill. They max out at level 99, so your maximum benefit from them is 49% .

  • Poison: Poison does periodic damage according to a percentage of the enemy's max HP. It is also one of the few things that functions differently depending on difficulty level - on hard or hell, you and enemies can be killed by poison. On easy or normal, they won't drop below 1 HP. Not a ton of attacks cause poison, but the ones that do have a very high success rate, so poison resistance should still be a priority.
  • Seal: Seal prevents you from using rune abilities and magics. Getting sealed is annoying and quite debilitating. Relatively few attacks cause seal, but if you get hit with it, nothing is more annoying than that. Get resist to it if you can just for peace of mind.
  • Paralysis: Paralysis prevents you from running. Certainly annoying, but you can still dash. It's more a nuisance than truly debilitating, but it's also one of the more common status effects that enemies can inflict. It's up to your own play style whether putting additional resistance into it makes sense.
  • Sleep: The most debilitating status effect, though also fairly uncommon. Puts you to sleep for one or more direct hits, though your defenses are also nullified while asleep. Not many attacks inflict sleep, but it's still very bad news if you're ever hit with it. Getting additional sleep resistance is a reasonable priority.
  • Fatigue: Fatigue increases your RP consumption, including for rune abilities and magics. Even if inflicted with it during the middle of a battle, it likely won't get you killed, and you can heal it once you dispatch the current threats. It also has very few attacks that inflict it. I don't think it's that much important to get extra resistance here.
  • Sick: Sick drains your RP gradually, similar to poison for HP. However, it depletes quite slowly. Same as fatigue, I don't think you really need to worry about sick in general. Just heal it once combat is finished.
  • Faint: Faint kills you instantly. Barely any attack in the game cause this effect. Usually, the enemies that look like reapers have that attack in their repertoire. Still, it's up to you whether it's valuable to put effort toward resisting it, since getting hit is an instant kill. As an alternative, consider carrying an Ayngondaia Lawn as a freebie in case you're hit. They are dropped by the Skull Dragon boss in Belpha Ruins and revive you once after death.
  • Drain: Successful physical attacks will heal you for a portion of the damage dealt. All drain resistance does is reduce the amount an enemy gains from performing a drain attack on you. In my opinion it's pointless for most scenarios, especially considering the few numbers of enemies that have drain attacks. The other way around, if your own weapon has a drain effect, it is simply amazing because you basically get a free heal with every hit as long as the enemy doesn't have a high drain resistance.

Beyond status effects, many types of attacks have particular properties that change how they impact enemies. They are broken down below, but first it's important to note that these properties only apply to physical attacks. You cannot change the properties of any magics, though resistance can be universally applied to incoming physical and magical attack properties. In the case of staves, property changes affect only the main hit and not any projectiles or charge attacks.

  • Crit: Critical hits have the effect of bypassing defenses. This is very useful for dealing full damage to an enemy, and becomes more effective the higher the enemy's defenses are. Critical hits play a role in changing up survivability calculations a bit, but they're also fairly rare. Every enemy has at least 1% chance to crit, but most enemies also have exactly 1%. So, crit resistance is nice for peace of mind, but the chance of getting crit is already quite small.
  • Dizzy: Dizzy is given as a flat value for most weapons and a few upgrades and accessories can add a small bit to it. Every time you hit an enemy; it adds your Diz to a hidden counter. After their accumulated Diz exceeds a certain amount, they become dizzy and immobilized for a short while. Dizzy resistance is pretty valuable, especially when getting swarmed by enemies. Diz is something that every enemy and attack has, so it can be useful to put effort toward resisting.

RELATED: Rune Factory 5 Review - Comfortable And Familiar

If you are just starting your adventure in Rigbarth, we have a whole crop of tips for you to harvest. Hopefully, you won't find the massive amount of the game's content too daunting!

Updated July 28, 2022 by Ryan Bamsey: With Rune Factory 5's release on PC, more players are getting to experience everything that the game has to offer - and some will be experiencing the Rune Factory universe for the very first time. We've added some more tips to this guide, focusing on leveling techniques.

One of the most important Rune Abilities, especially in the game's early sections, is Cure . This spell is cheap and will heal some of your HP in exchange for some RP . This means you don't have to carry around a ton of healing potions and meals every time you want to go on an adventure.

Your RP'll limit you, so try to save it when you're relying on the spell.

The Cure Rune Ability is located in the Meline Crystal Caverns on B1 . You'll encounter a chest at the end of the floor, near the furthest exit from the starting point. The image above has the location marked on the map.

Just like in Rune Factory 4, taming monsters in this game can lead to a production line of useful resources. Many monsters, once tamed, will produce materials that they would usually drop once defeated .

While you will have an easier time recruiting monsters by giving them the items they like, you don't have to use them. You can recruit monsters with grasses and medicinal herbs, as long as they are not damaging.

Some of the most useful include Buffamoos and Cluckadoodles for Milk and Eggs , respectively - these are used in many cooking recipes.

Having lots of monsters producing materials is a great strategy for filling out your recipe books, as a huge portion of recipes call for certain material types . Getting one monster per material type is a very good idea.

You need to have befriended a Farm Dragon before you are able to construct a monster barn, and monster barns are required to tame monsters. You will get your first monster barn after beating the boss of Whispering Woods, the first dungeon in the game.

You'll be led to believe that the only way you can craft something is to eat Recipe Bread to learn what ingredients you need. While this is certainly one way you could go about it, you can also learn recipes by stumbling across them with some experimentation.

There are a few things to be wary of when doing this:

  • If you try a combination of items that don't form a recipe, you will end up with a failed item and a waste of resources .
  • Attempting to produce an item without knowing the recipe beforehand will make it cost significantly more RP . It's all too easy to pass out from this.
  • Attempting to produce an item that is a higher level than the crafting skill you are using may fail . The chance of failure rises with the gap between your level and the item's level.

One benefit to failing at a craft is that you still get experience , and it's based on how difficult the recipe you're trying to make is. Once you've learned a high-level recipe - meaning that it is in your repertoire of recipes to make, not something you took from one of our guides - attempt to make it but use incorrect materials.

You can use anything - common colored grasses, cheap seeds etc. You'll end up with some rubbish and spend some RP in the process, but you'll get a nice chunk of experience as a trade-off.

The Heart Pendant is a very useful accessory that you can craft as soon as you have access to Silver and Love Crystals. This accessory, when equipped, will double the experience gain you receive for all skills. Once you can get this, equip it and never take it off to skyrocket in power.

To forge it, you'll need to be able to craft a level 40 recipe at the Crafting Table, and gather some materials:

Once you have these, turn the Silver into a Silver Pendant at the Crafting Table. Now, combine the Silver Pendant with the Love Crystal to craft the Heart Pendant.

Your party in Rune Factory 5 can consist of up to three characters, not including the player character. It's a good idea to recruit a full party before heading on any dangerous expeditions, especially to whichever dungeon you're currently having to take on.

To get a character to go with you, you'll need to raise their Friendship to level three . Alternatively, you can equip the Companion Crest .

Once either of those conditions is satisfied, press either the L or R button when speaking to them, and you can ask them to go on an adventure . How long they'll stay with you depends on your Friendship level - at lower levels, characters will leave you in the evening.

If you go to sleep before the character leaves your party, they will still be with you when you wake up. This can be used to skip the process of finding the character and recruiting them again every day.

Gradual upgrades are the name of the game when it comes to Rune Factory. You have to accrue a lot of resources for some of your upgrades, and others involve delving into dangerous dungeons. To that end, it's a good idea to get your priorities in order. Here are some tips:

  • Once you have a Forge, you'll want to start upgrading your tools and weapons . We recommend upgrading your Hammer and Axe first, as the upgraded versions have a chance of harvesting multiple Material Stones and Lumber logs from stumps and rocks with each strike.
  • When it comes time to upgrade facilities, it's a good idea to get the first Blacksmith upgrade as soon as possible . This will let you buy more things at their shop, including precious ores for crafting.
  • Conversely, the General Store is less of a priority when it comes to facility upgrades . The benefits you get aren't more valuable than, for example, the upgrades for your room or the Bakery.
  • The Knife will be more useful if you enjoy fishing a lot, as the vast majority of Knife recipes use the fish.
  • The Oven is more useful if you have tamed a few Cluckadoodles and Buffamoos, as many Oven recipes require Eggs and Milk.
  • The Mixer is more useful for prolific farmers with fruit trees, as there are lots of fruit and vegetable juice recipes that require the Mixer.

In Rune Factory, your stats increase as you level up your skills , and you level up your skills by doing... well... anything. Alongside the typical skills - Forging, Swords, Farming - you have some skills that you don't normally see in RPGs, such as Walking, Eating, and Sleeping .

Raising your Sleeping skill is great as it will vastly improve your maximum HP, along with slight increases to your RP, STR, INT, and VIT.

You'll level up your Sleeping skill whenever you wake up after heading to bed, but only if you manage to go to sleep before the clock hits 1 AM . Any later than that, and you'll wake up feeling groggy, unrested, and without a skill increase.

One statistic that the game will track is whether or not you've ever shipped an item . You can see whether you've ever shipped an item in the past by examining it in the Storage Box or Shipping Bin menus.

It's a good idea to ship one of everything as you'll be rewarded with items and unlocks when you hit various milestones .

A good rule of thumb is to craft one of everything, even if you don't need them. And when you're crafting something you do need, consider crafting a second one to ship. It'll only save time in the long run!

You can purchase a Magnifying Glass early on from the General Store for 2,000G . This handy tool allows you to view the quality and health of your soil . It's important to keep track of how your fields are doing so you don't end up wasting precious seeds on soil that isn't going to grow them well.

To use it, simply equip it and walk over the patch of soil you want to inspect.

While you're there, you might want to grab a pair of Shears , too! These let you harvest the Fur from a Wooly without harming it , whether it's in the wild or in one of your monster barns.

『ルーンファクトリー5』ルンファク情報局ショート動画-1

After losing their memory, the protagonist begins their new life in Rigbarth, where they are recruited into a peacekeeping organisation called SEED . In order to protect the peace of the town, the player must solve various cases.

Apart from their duties as a SEED ranger, the protagonist can tend to a farm, fish, find love, and much more. They can team up with townspeople to battle monsters and unleash powerful attacks. [6]

In the Kingdom of Norad, a girl wanders in the forest by herself. She is nearly attacked by a Wooly and screams. Lying on the ground nearby, the protagonist wakes up without memories but realizes the girl needs help. After defeating the monsters, the two return to the girl's town, but the protagonist collapses at the gate. While Priscilla is attempting to take a step out of town, she and Lucy witness the protagonist collapse and rush over to help.

The player wakes up at the clinic and meets the mayor and local doctor, Simone , and the innkeeper Murakumo , revealing to both of them that they suffer from amnesia. Lucy is not sure if they should allow the player to stay, but her mother suggests they try the Soul Sphere, a device supposedly able to discern the nature of someone's soul. She and the player go to Rigbarth Outpost and introduce them to Captain Livia . As the player touches the Soul Sphere , it shines brightly. Livia says that the player is not dangerous.

Livia offers to let the protagonist live at the Rigbarth Outpost in exchange for joining SEED. Suddenly, Cecil bursts in and says says Yuki 's glasses are missing. Livia sends Lucy and the protagonists agrees to work together. Livia then tells Priscilla to teach the protagonist how to farm .

Priscilla takes the protagonist to the field, gives the protagonist a worn-out hoe, watering can, and turnip seeds. She explains how crops can be harvested and eaten raw, cooked, or shipped (by 8 AM each morning). She shows the protagonist their room at Rigbarth Outpost . She tells the protagonist to get some rest.

The next day, Lucy and Priscilla deliver a message from Livia telling the protagonist to meet all the villagers. The protagonists finds the Nine-Tailed Fox in the Whispering Woods and defeats it, transforming it into Misasagi . They return on the Farm Dragon and Livia makes the protagonist an official member of SEED . She senses a disturbance in rune energy and sends the protagonist to Belpha Ruins .

Development [ ]

Due to the success of Rune Factory 4 , the creator, Yoshifumi Hashimoto, said the game’s reception was good enough to green light a sequel in a Famitsu article [7] , but did not say that it was in development. During the February 2019 Nintendo Direct, it was announced that Rune Factory 5 was in development.

In the May 2019 issue of Nintendo Dream, two developers (Maekawa and Hashimoto) said that they are excited for the games progress and hoped people will like it [8] . During Marvelous' latest financial results briefing, they said that Rune Factory 5 will "definitely not" release before April 2020. [9] . On July 25, 2019, a teaser trailer was shown during the end of a Rune Factory 4 Special livestream [10] On September 17, 2020, a gameplay trailer for Rune Factory 5 was shown off in a Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase.
