The Army offers job perks to those who help prevent sex asssault

homebase assignment program

Active-component soldiers who serve full-time in support of the Army's Sexual Harassment/Assault Response Prevention Program qualify for an array of assignment incentives under a directive issued March 11 by acting Secretary of the Army Patrick J. Murphy.

The incentives, consisting of assignment preferences and stabilization options, are designed to encourage soldiers to serve in SHARP positions as program managers, sexual assault response coordinators, victim advocates and trainers.

Information provided by the Office of the Army's G1 ( human resources office ) at the Pentagon indicates there are 188 authorizations openings for military authorizations for SHARP coordinators, and 46 for military victim advocates, although it is not clear how many of those have been filled. Officials  G1 did not provide authorization  any totals for the program managers who head SHARP efforts in large commands or , and the trainers who work with units.

"The initiatives captured in (Murphy’s directive) are reflective of Army efforts to professionalize the SHARP program, and to recruit the best talent possible to serve in these positions of significant trust," according to a March 17 statement from human resource officials released by G1 March 17 .

Under the provisions of the directive, soldiers who serve in the designated positions may request a follow-on assignment location, or stabilization at their current location, but not both.

Assignment preference option

Full-time program managers, response coordinators, victim advocates and trainers may request assignment to one of three location preferences after successfully completing a two-year tour in a SHARP position.

If the requested locations do not have a valid requirement for the soldier's MOS, the assignment manager will provide the soldier with three location choices that can be supported.

To qualify, soldiers must:

• Request assignment to three locations with a valid manning requirement for their military occupational specialty and grade.

• Submit a DA Form 4187, personnel action request, through the first lieutenant colonel commander in their chain of command, to their assignment manager at the Human Resources Command.

• If serving stateside, requests should be submit ted  requests 12 months in advance of the end of their 24-month SHARP assignment.

• If serving overseas, submit requests 12 months  requests should be submitted 12 months before the end of the SHARP assignment or their DEROS (date eligible for return from overseas), whichever occurs first.

• If serving in an overseas short-tour area, soldiers should use the Homebase/Advance Assignment Program to request a follow-on assignment location. Such requests should be submitted no later than nine months before the end of their 12-month tour or DEROS, whichever occurs first.

Stabilization option

Soldiers may request stabilization at their current location for 12 months following completion of a full-time 24-month SHARP assignment.

To qualify for the incentive program, soldiers must:

• Request stabilization in a position for their primary MOS and grade at their current location. Requests should be submitted on DA Form 4187, through their first lieutenant colonel commander, to their HRC assignment manager.

• Stabilization requests should be s Submit ted  requests within the time lines described above for the assignment preference option

The new incentive policies will be incorporated into future revisions of Army Regulations 614-100 (Officer Assignment Policies, Details and Transfers) and 614-200 (Enlisted Assignments and Utilization Management).

Common Questions

Q: how are employees and shifts prioritized in the auto-scheduling process.

A: We use a points-based system to allow for even scheduling. First, Time-Off and Availability are taken into consideration. Second, the maximum number of hours employees have shown preference to work, seniority, and their roles specified on the Team page. Third, if an employee is scheduled less hours than another, they are chosen for a shift.

Each time a schedule is published, Homebase records when it is published, who was notified, the date range that was published, and who published it. This function will allow you to see who published each schedule, therefore, if a change was made, you can consult the person that last published.

To find the history:

  • Select  Schedule  in the left menu.
  • Select  Tools  in the top right corner.
  • Select  View Publish History .

When a shift trade is approved, Homebase records it on the schedule builder. It will specify who traded and when, and who approved the trade.

To find the trade history:

  • Select  Schedule  in the left menu
  • The word  Approvals  will appear at the bottom of the shift on the schedule builder.
  • Click  Approvals  to see the history of the traded shift.
  • Above the schedule builder, select the drop-down box with your location’s name.
  • Select the locations to be visible on the schedule.
  • A gray box will show where an employee is already scheduled to ensure their schedules don't overlap across multiple locations.

Track that your employees have received the published Schedule with schedule confirmation receipts. When the Schedule is published, notifications are sent to employees via text and email. When the Schedule notification is received as a text on their phone, you will see “Delivered via SMS” on the Schedule. When opened in an email, a note will be listed on the Schedule that the employee has “Opened via Email”.

  • There will be an eye icon next to employee’s names that have seen the schedule.

Track your scheduled labor and make sure you're hitting your targets with the weather and sales forecast and Labor % Target and By Department features.

  • Select  Week  in the drop-down box next to the date range.
  • In the lower right corner, click the up arrow to expand the budget forecast toolbar.
  • Select  Tools  in the upper right corner.
  • You can select to show or hide hours, wages, and people.

The Budget Forecast Toolbar:

Weather  - The latest weather forecast.

Sales  - Your estimated sales, as the average of the last 2 weeks for each particular day.

  • If you have connected your point-of-sale system to Homebase, we pull in your POS sales.
  • Non-POS merchants are able to enter their sales manually.
  • We allow you to edit all sales values to estimate your labor ahead of time.

Labor % Target  - Enter a labor as % of sales target for each day or for the week and we'll show you how you’re doing.

By Department  - Your scheduled labor by department.

Target labor and target sales by hour

You will need to be connected to one of our POS integrations to actively pull sales.

Using this tool, you have the ability to more precisely schedule your team based on historical data for each day. Enter a desired target labor cost to calculate the required headcount or a target sales number per employee per hour.

  • Select  Day View  in the upper left corner.
  • The graphs will appear below the schedule builder.
