It was a bad day and I was so hungry but the worse part was that I couldn’t eat anything. My mom was so scared and worried that she turned into full protective mama bear mode. I would never forget those days because she wouldn’t leave my side at all until I felt better. She would keep me in her room and we would watch movies together until I felt tired and fell asleep. Personal Narrative Essay: My Hero Is My Mother

We all have someone that we admire and aspire to be when  we grow old. There are many  different opinions about what a true hero is. The person I consider my hero is my mother, Doretha Hill. My mom has been there for me through thick and thin and has  never left my side. She has taught me many lessons throughout my life, but the one that stuck with me the most was being protective and compassionate to the ones you love. One experience in particular that taught me this lesson happened when I was in the fourth grade.

It was the week of the fourth grade field trip. On Thursday, my classmates and I headed to Panama City to visit the amusement attraction, Wonderworks. I was so anxious that week that I remember being so excited for the fun to begin. The week of the field trip, I began to feel ill.  I must have caught a bad cold from school.  It wasn’t bothering me until the night before the field trip, and that’s where everything changed.

On the day of the field trip I woke up at 6:00 a.m feeling the worst I have ever felt. I was congested and could barely breathe because of my asthma. I told my mom that I didn't feel good the night before and she gave me some medicine to help. She came into my room making sure I had everything packed when she noticed I looked nauseous.

“Kayla, maybe you should stay home,”Mom said.

“I really want to go on the field trip though!,” I said with two major thoughts going through my head, “What do you want me to do?”

“Well I made an appointment for you at the doctor’s office since your asthma has started acting up.”  mom said.

I really didn’t want to miss the field trip because I had been waiting for this a long time.  After thinking about it for a while, I decided to go. My mother said I would regret going on this field trip since I was not feeling the best.

“Kayla, if you happen to end up in the hospital when you know you're not feeling well. I will not come down there and get you,” my mom said.

Feeling sad I shake my head replying with a, “ Yes ma'am.”

A couple of hours later I was on the southern coach bus sitting with my friend when I started sweating out of nowhere. It was uncomfortable and made me  have  a miserable bus ride. When we arrived the wind started to pick up and I was getting chill bumps all over my body. Once inside the building, one of the teachers Ms. Smith stopped me and asked if I felt alright.  She saw me shivering and breathing a little loud. There were stairs we had to go up and she asked if I was fine doing them and I shook my head up and down.  About halfway up the stairs I collapsed into the railing and the teacher called 911. The last thing I remember before I passed out completely was the medics arriving asking for my parents phone number.

The next day I remember waking  inside a hospital room to my mother sitting beside my bed. I remember asking what happened to me and she said I collapsed and passed out. She told me that I had pneumonia and had to stay in the hospital for a while.  She said I scared her and that she drove as fast as she could to come check up on me. At that moment I would never forget how protective and compassionate she was towards me.

Throughout my life, I have known that my mom will always be my hero. It is my mom who I will always admire and aspire to be like when I grow up. She is the most compassionate person I've ever met. She is a dedicated healthcare worker who is determined to help those in need. Ever since I was born she has been nothing but patient and loving towards me. Overall, I will never forget the feeling when she was there by my side throughout my hospital days. My mom had taught me many things but what I learned from her that day was to always be protective and compassionate to the ones you love.

My mom being my hero essay

Somebody I consider to be a hero is my mom. To be someone's hero it isn't that simple. Hero's are defined through the things they do to help to make the environment around you a better place. Hero's are usually defined as caring, patient, courage and selflessness. My mom is my hero because she influences me to look up to her. My mom shows courage and strength, she also passionate about making the people around her happy and successful.

My mom can be seen as a hero in my life because she is a caring mom. We have six children at our home and my mom has the time to clean, cook food for them, buy them things, drive them to their specific sports and events. One time i remember is when this was during the weekends. The weekends are very busy and everybody has someplace to be so my mom drove my brothers to their soccer game while they're at soccer dropped my sister at her friend's house, picked up the other. She finds time to make her kids successful and to let them to have fun in their activities.

My mom is my hero because of the courage she has. She will do anything to protect me and my family in any situation. I remember this one time during Christmas break we go to the snow at camp in the cabins with our friends and cousins. And so one evening we were coming up to the house after a fun day at the snow, and we're caring sleds and skiing equipment and all of the sudden we hear something move in the bushes. Everybody got scared. Can you imagine twenty- twenty-five people are coming up with random things from the snow. Everybody is tired. and out of the bushes, we see a cub. Everybody got scared even the adults. The kids were losing their minds. 'what if he attacks us? 'Off course not just keep on going and don't stop'. My little sisters started crying its okay my mom said 'everything will be okay because I'm with you girls'. My mom quickly got the little kids and ran to the cabin. After she brought her own kids to a safe place she helped the other moms take their kids. This showed me the courage she had even if there was something that might of killed or injure somebody from the group.

How it works

Simon Birch was a physically challenged preteen who’s always had a difficult time fitting in. He grew up with people laughing at him and being unkind to him, including his very own parents. But Joe, Simon’s best friend, and Rebecca, Joe’s mother gave him a sense of belonging by treating him like family. They laughed with him and not at him, but most importantly they loved him. I too, had trouble finding a sense of belonging. There was a time where I was made fun of because of the way I spoke.

I was told that I sound “white.” I didn’t understand why the people I thought were my friends said I sounded “white.” So I asked them what do you mean and the said that I spoke like a white person, and they said white people are rich, and they are highly educated. Then I realized they were jealous of me. My “friends” assumed that I thought I was better than they were because I went to private school and it private school is very pricey. But, I didn’t let that bother me. I simply started going to a different church and met new people and hung out with friends from school that attended the same church. These people gave me a sense of belonging because they liked me for me and the way I spoke didn’t matter to them. They brought out a new side of me I never really paid attention to. I discovered that I had a good sense of humor and helping people is something I can’t not do. All of the positivity really made me more confident in myself.

Simon’s condition caused many burdens. He wasn’t able to run last fast as the other kids, he wasn’t as tall as other kids, and he gets bullied. His parents are a burden to him, and the fact that he killed his best friends mother. Kids who are different, like Simon, are very important to me. I wake up everyday not knowing what may happen because tomorrow is never guaranteed. I may one day wake up with a disease that causes paralysis, or heart failure, but that hasn’t happened. I am grateful everyday that I can still walk, that i can talk, and even move my fingers. These are things people struggle with everyday and I do my best to help these people because have the physical capability to do so. But it’s not only that it can also be about emotion and socializing. I know some friends that have problems socializing. They don’t do well in crowds and I’m there to help them. I talk to them about it and tell them to try new things hoping to help them open up. And this is my way of helping.

Based on internet definitions, a hero is person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Heroes are strong, muscular, fearless, loved by everyone but their one enemy. Heroes are seen as people with capes flying in the air, racing at 700 miles per hour to help get people out a train that about to drop 300 ft. and land in the water. But, my definition is beyond that. I see a hero as anyone who is willing to help someone in their own time. Anyone who can make someone’s day with a simple smile is a hero. Simple acts of kindness like lending someone a pencil makes people heroes. And I think I am a hero to people for doing small things like that to help them. I am a hero because I saved them from not being able to do their work during the class period. I am a hero because I told them to try again and not give up. I am a hero because I am willing to take the call of action by doing what I thinks is right by helping others.

Everyday of my of my life I am told the same things by my hero. “Do good in school sweetheart, be nice, pay attention to your teacher, do your work, and take your time.” My mom is an influential women that has been there for me my whole life telling me to be grateful for the little thing in front of me, because I only get them once. She tells me to try and never give up, especially if I think I know I can do it. My mom grew up in Haiti which is a really poor country and she grew up learning that you don’t always get what you want but you get what you need. And that’s also something she tells me everyday. My mom is my mentor. She is my counselor. But most importantly she is my friend who I call hero on special occasions.

My Mother as My Hero

Everyone has different heroes, for some people their heroes have special powers. Well, my hero is my mother Carol.

She is the most hardworking and supportive person I know. My mother is now 43 years old, she has three girls and one boy. She worked at Housekeeping department for 5 years but transferred to Sports Bar as a food runner this year. My mother has a big impact in my life because she is always there for me no matter what and she gives me the best advice when I am having a hard time.

She believes that I can achieve anything, my mother influenced me to finish my education, and made me go out of my comfort zone.

My mother helped and showed me that I can achieve anything as long I put my mind into it. She also taught me how to be a good person, for example respecting people that are older than you. When I don’t have confidence, she motivates me to believe in myself that I can do anything for example, this year in sports not having enough confidence in myself made me think that I will not play a game like what happened last year not playing at least one game.

Sometimes when I need help with my homework, my mom will not hesitate to help me even though she doesn’t know it.

My mother life wasn’t easy like what I thought because she never showed or told how she struggled unless we ask her about her life.

my mother my hero essay

Proficient in: Mother

“ Really polite, and a great writer! Task done as described and better, responded to all my questions promptly too! ”

Growing up, my mother used to work every summer when there’s no school at her Aunty to help her family. With all her hard work and dedication my mother graduated college and became a med-tech. She migrated to United States in 2013 after being separated from us for about three years. Coming here, she had a hard time finding a job because she couldn’t use her degree in United States. Instead, she had an opportunity to apply in Housekeeping at Four Season.

Another reason why she is my hero is because she influenced me to finish my education in highschool and to graduate with honors. My mother inspires me more to attend college and pick a career that I am interested. When I was in elementary, I used to struggle in Language Arts and Math but my mom made me realize that if I work harder in school, listen and pay attention to the teacher and ask for help. I can understand the topic that is being taught to me more. I am a shy person but my mother inspires me to look up to her, a person who have confidence in herself.

My mom also made me go out of my comfort zone. Coming from a different country, I didn’t want to meet new people because in my mind people might judge me. Living in Lanai, afterschool I would head home do my homework and just watch t.v. The only time, I would talk to my peers would be in class. She wanted me to join sports and school clubs so, I could interact with my peers more rather than staying at home and this is what I actually did when I entered high school. I followed what she told me, now I am part of Leo’s club for almost 3 years and I joined one sport which is tennis. I never thought that interacting with your peers can be fun and exciting.

She might not have special powers, but my mother is my hero. She has the qualities of a hero. My mother is someone that I can talk to and encourage me to do my best. My mother is that type of a person that doesn’t give up and tries her best all the time, and she always have confidence and I want to be like her someday. Someone who always believe in herself and can achieve anything.

My Hero: My Mother Essay

The one person that I could never live without, the reason I am standing till this day, is my mother. My mother is who I thank and admire most of all. Without her dedication and hard work, I would be in the squatters of the Philippines, stuck in a place where it is a very difficult place to make a good enough living or even make enough money to keep the bread on the table for your family . Her main goal and dream was to pass the NCLEX exam, it would permit her to go to America. That would allow her to make a better living and life for herself and to get a job, in order to send back money needed for her family. My mom was the eldest of nine siblings. It was extremely difficult for them to have enough money to buy food, …show more content…

She knew that a good education would be the only way to become successful in the future. My mom made a promise to herself, to have full dedication in her school work in order to move to America, to earn money for her family. She wanted to get control of her life and make sure to have a great education. She enjoyed learning and studying in high school . She would lock herself in her room, and sat in a desk that was in the corner of the room. She would study nonstop, even eating dinner as she read her books. She was so proud of herself when she did great on all her tests and finals. Her friends would invite her to go out and eat at the mall, but she would remember the promise she made to herself, to put all schoolwork before everything, because it was more important. Once she graduated high school with the highest average of her class, she worked even harder in her college classes. She enrolled to get a Metical Technology degree because she knew the employers were always needed in the medical field. My mom studied day and night to pass her board exam. The board exam was what you needed to pass in order to graduate college. She passed that exam swiftly and worked toward her next exam, that allowed her to travel to America and would guide her to the successful future she truly deserved. Parents are one of the most beautiful things that could happen to anyone. They are always there by your side no matter what; they always want the best for their children. They can be strict and protective, its because they love their kids and they don’t want them to get hurt. My parents are special to me because with all the hard time that they had to have me and my siblings in their life they still fought for us and didn’t give up, even after 17 years of trying. But for me? The greatest of all is my mom. She is the one that I look up too. She is the greatest of all. Simple, funny, strict, protective, but yet she is the best.

My Immigrants From Poland To The United States

My parents Immigrated from Poland to the United States in search for better opportunity for the children that they planned to have. When my parents finally made the move, they started with nothing and no one to turn to; they did not even know how to speak English. All my parents knew for sure was that they were going to raise three children in America and do all they could possibly do to motivate and make them passionate for school. My parents have always wanted their children to achieve the careers of their dreams and be able to support their own family as well as be happy with their lives. My parents have struggled with money their entire lives, which is another reason why they did all they could to get to America and motivate their children for schooling. They did not want their children to struggle with money the way that they did. But this led another issue, affording college. My parents did not have enough money for their children to attend college. Because of this, I have done my best in school to earn outstanding grades and do my best to earn scholarships.

Personal Essay: Integrating To The United States

My mother immigrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic at the age of 16, all by herself! I can barely imagine being in college next year, nonetheless, moving to a new country and beginning a new life. As my older brother by 6 years and I would walk past those expensive Jordans in the mall, or stroll by the shiny Mercedes Benz parked on the corner of the street, my mother would promise that good grades and an education could one day afford us these extra facets to life. So believe me, before baseball practice, homework would be done, done

Mama Day Essay

The comparisons--North vs. South, city vs. country, technology vs. nature--are numerous and have been well documented in 20th century literature. Progress contrasts sharply with rooted cultural beliefs and practices. Personalities and mentalities about life, power and change differ considerably between worlds... worlds that supposed-intellectuals from the West would classify as "modern" and "backwards," respectively. When these two worlds collide, the differences--and the danger--rise significantly. This discrepancy between the old and the new is one of the principal themes of Gloria Naylor's Mama Day. The interplay between George, Ophelia and Mama Day shows the discrepancies between a "modern" style of thinking and one born of
