Essay on “singing competition that i won” for students and children, best essay, paragraph, speech for class 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12.

Singing Competition That I Won

In the hunt of a beautiful voice, our school hosted the seventh edition of ‘Golden Voice Competition’, on Annual Singing Day.

The students who wished to participate in the competition were sorted into three categories on the bases of age. The three categories were junior classes II to IV, intermediate from classes V to VII and senior classes from VIII to X. About 140 students had turned up for the elimination round out of which 15 were selected for the final round. I was one among the fifteen participants.

We had to cover songs that ranged from genres like Devotional, Classical, Pop, Sufi and Bollywood. I selected a devotional song. In order to judge the event, our school had invited some of the eminent personalities from the world of music. Sugandhi Arun, singer and a performer was the chief guest for the event. Our school believes that music is an interesting opportunity for expressing creativity of children as it helps to stay tuned to life.

The competition started. The participants singing popular numbers mesmerised the audience and left them asking for more. With great confidence, I sang a devotional song. From junior’s group, Delzin Tata won many hearts with her chirpy-voiced version of `Ashaye’. This won her the top prize in her category. Sonam Mhaske and Heena Khan bagged top honours in the intermediate and senior groups respectively.

Finally, my name was announced as the winner of devotional category. I was awarded with the title of ‘gest Devotional Singer’ of the school. This day had turned out to be a memorable day of my school life. Many of my friends and teachers congratulated rile. I realized how my mother daily sat with me and helped me practice singing. Her efforts at home helped me to train myself for the competition. I realised that hard work of practicing singing helped me to succeed.

Linking music to general progress of the students, our Principal Roxana Ookajee said, “Music injects rhythm in an individual’s approach to life. It eliminates haphazardness and consequently produces amazing results in different walks of life.”

However, for me performing in front of family and friends was much tougher than performing before an unknown audience. The competition was a real test of a performer’s character.

Singing competitions are both exciting and nerve-wracking. To improve your chances at winning one, you’ll need to pick a great song, practice as much as you can, and use confident body language to make the audience feel more engaged. Taking care of your body and adopting a positive mindset can also get you ready to give a killer performance.

Choosing a Song

Step 1 Pick a song that’s appropriate for your range and abilities.

  • You’re better off choosing a simpler song that you can sing comfortably than a challenging song.

Step 2 Go for a lesser known song.

  • Avoid giving cliche reasons for picking your artist. Try to find an original perspective.

Working on the Basics

Step 1 Take singing lessons or watch online tutorials.

  • Your lower abdomen should expand as you inhale and contract as you exhale.

Step 3 Perfect your pitch.

  • If you don’t have an instrument on hand, try using an online keyboard.

Step 4 Practice good singing posture.

  • Lean forward a little bit, and keep your abdomen tight but expandable.

Step 5 Do a thorough warm up before you sing.

  • You should always begin your warm up with breath activation exercises, like hissing or trills. Then, do some scales that stretch your range. Finally, if you have time, you should work on improving techniques or skills that give you a little trouble.

Practicing Your Song

Step 1 Practice your song until you’re comfortable with the melody and lyrics.

  • When you’re working on your song, start by learning the rhythm, melody, and lyrics. Once you know the lyrics and melody by heart, work on mastering the song’s vocal style and putting your own unique spin on it.

Step 2 Record your performance and critique it.

  • Performing in front of a mirror can be super helpful as well.

Step 3 Perform your song in front of as many people as you can.

  • Listen to their critiques without taking them personally. If they tell you you’re too stiff, don’t get defensive. Realize that they want to help you, and focus on loosening up a bit during your performance.

Step 4 Increase your practicing volume two weeks before the competition.

  • Remember, it’s better to do a little practicing every day than one huge practice session once a week. [10] X Research source

Step 5 Look at other performances to improve your own.

  • Watch one of your favorite performances while looking in a mirror. Mimic the performer to improve your performance style.

Taking Care of Your Body and Voice

Step 1 Get enough sleep...

  • Try to go to bed at the same time each night and wake up at the same time each morning.
  • Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and sugary foods right before bed.

Step 2 Stay hydrated.

  • Stick to water. Avoid sugary beverages like juice and soda.

Step 3 Avoid eating the hour before you sing in the competition.

  • Avoid sugary foods and caffeine on competition day. These can increase your anxiety. [14] X Research source
  • Steer clear of alcohol, spicy foods, and citrus, which can cause acid reflux. [15] X Research source
  • Keep away from dairy products before you compete, like cheese, milk, and yogurt. These can thicken the phlegm in your throat. [16] X Research source

Step 4 Warm up your...

  • You should come up with a warm up ritual, either on your own or with your vocal coach. YouTube can be a great source for warm up ideas.

Getting in a Positive Mindset

Step 1 Use positive self-talk on competition day.

  • If you find yourself thinking, “I’m going to mess up,” tell yourself, “You can do this. You’ve practiced a ton, and now it’s time to give it all you’ve got.”

Step 2 Find phrases or images that make you feel optimistic.

  • You might have a phrase like, “Time to crush it,” or visualize yourself winning the competition.

Step 3 Don’t think of this competition as your one and only chance.

  • Put your energy into providing a good show for the audience rather than worrying about what they’re thinking.

Giving a Great Performance

Step 1 Make eye contact with the audience.

  • Make sure you come to the front of the stage from time to time throughout your performance. It’ll help you connect with your audience.

Step 3 Stand up straight.

  • Gestures are especially important if you’re not moving around much during your performance.

Step 5 Use facial expressions that fit with the emotion of your song.

  • The judges aren’t evil masterminds out to get you. They actually want you to do well!

Expert Q&A

Tanisha Hall

  • Regardless of whether you win or lose, always be gracious and courteous to the judges and the other competitors. A sore winner is just as bad as a sore loser. Thanks Helpful 1 Not Helpful 0
  • Don’t put too much pressure on a single competition. If this one doesn’t go well, you’ll have other opportunities to shine. Thanks Helpful 0 Not Helpful 0

Singing competition by nammu.

I looked out of the car window, I saw the same poster about a singing competition on every single building there was in the city as I stared in amazement. "Mum, Dad, Can I please go to that singing competition!" I asked. "Of course you can go dear" replied mum as she looked behind at me. "This competition seems to be quite famous, I know you are great at singing but the competition here is very high, be sure to practice a lot and try your best", added dad. Mum nodded. "Yes dad! I will!" I replied. I felt quite nervous when dad said that but singing was my passion and I loved it ever since I was very young, I knew this was a great opportunity so I tried to feel confident and worked very hard.

I chose to sing 'Halo' by Beyoncé, since it was a very attractive song and I loved it too. Every week, I would go to my music class and practice with the help of my expert teacher. Her advice really helped me improve. At home, I would sing to my parents and they would encourage me by telling me how they thought that I would stand out from the other participants. The competition was getting closer, with all this help and practice, I was ready.

Hundreds of people were there watching me closely as I was about to sing on stage. Who knows what they would think of my singing, I just had to try my best. "You can do this!" I whispered to myself before I sang. Then there I was, singing with all my might as I let out my whole inner expression towards my singing. I looked at everyone and they were smiling! I knew they liked my song! The audience roared and clapped! I glanced around and noticed my parents, I could tell they were very proud of me!

At the end, it was time to find out who had won the competition! "The winner is..", the announcer began, "Lilly Hampton! Please come up to the stage!". That was me! I couldn't believe it, my hands were shaking as I was overwhelmed with happiness. I held onto my trophy and medal, smiling as everyone including my parents took pictures of me!

Anchoring Script: Singing Competition

Writing an anchoring script for a singing competition requires a blend of organization, entertainment, and the ability to engage the audience throughout the event. Here’s a guide on how to create an effective script that will ensure the competition runs smoothly and enjoyably.

Table of Contents

Understanding the Event

Before you begin writing, familiarize yourself with the details of the singing competition. Know the sequence of performances, the names of the contestants, the judges, and any special guests. Understand the rules of the competition and the criteria for judging, as this will help you explain the process to the audience and create a more immersive experience.

Opening the Event

Start your script with a strong and warm opening. Welcome the audience, introduce yourself, and offer a brief overview of the event.

“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to [Name of Event]! My name is [Your Name], and I am thrilled to be your host tonight. We are about to witness an incredible display of talent as our contestants take the stage to showcase their vocal prowess. Get ready for an evening of melodious performances that will leave us all spellbound!”

Introducing Contestants and Judges

Provide a brief and interesting biography for each contestant as they are introduced. Similarly, introduce the judges with a few notable achievements that command respect and establish their expertise.

“Taking the stage first is [Contestant’s Name], a vocal powerhouse with a passion for soul music. [He/She/They] have been captivating audiences with [his/her/their] rich tones since the age of [X].”

“Judging tonight’s performances, we have [Judge’s Name], known for [his/her/their] work as [accomplishment/position]. We are honored to have such expertise guiding tonight’s competition.”

Transition and Engagement

Keep transitions smooth and maintain a lively atmosphere between performances. Use engaging commentary, relevant quotes about music, or quick interactions with the audience to keep the energy high.

“As we await the scores from our esteemed panel, let’s chat with a few audience members. Tell us, who has been your favorite performer so far?”

Incorporating Sponsor Messages

If the event has sponsors, gracefully include acknowledgments and messages from them in your script, ensuring it doesn’t disrupt the flow of the event.

“We would like to take a moment to thank our sponsor [Sponsor’s Name], whose support has been instrumental in bringing this event to life. Remember to check out their [Product/Service] at the booth outside!”

Concluding the Event

End the competition on a high note. Congratulate the participants, thank the judges, and express gratitude to the audience for their participation and enthusiasm.

“What an extraordinary evening of musical talent! A big round of applause for all our contestants and congratulations to our winners. A heartfelt thank you to our judges, [Names], and to you, our wonderful audience, for making [Event Name] a success. Good night, and let the music always move you!”

Remember, the key to a successful anchoring script is to keep it conversational, concise, and full of energy. It should guide the audience through the event seamlessly while making each participant feel special and valued. Tailor your script to the tone of the event, whether it’s formal, casual, or somewhere in between, and don’t forget to have fun – your enjoyment is contagious!

Perfecting Your Performance as an Anchor

Now that we’ve composed your anchoring script, let’s refine it with some performance tips:

  • Rehearse : Practice your script to ensure smooth delivery and familiarize yourself with the flow of the event.
  • Be Flexible : Be ready to improvise if there are unexpected changes or delays during the event.
  • Connect : Make eye contact with the audience and contestants to create a connection.
  • Pace Yourself : Keep a steady pace, not too fast to rush through the script or too slow to lose the audience’s interest.
  • Confidence : Project confidence in your voice and body language to maintain the audience’s attention and respect.
  • Enjoy the Moment : Take pleasure in the event, and your enjoyment will be contagious, enhancing the overall experience for everyone.

Final Thoughts

An anchoring script for a singing competition is more than just words on paper; it’s the rhythm that keeps the event flowing, the harmony that ties each segment together, and the melody that resonates with the audience and contestants. Your role as an anchor is pivotal in creating an atmosphere of excitement, celebration, and musical joy. With a well-crafted script and dynamic delivery, you’ll ensure that the competition hits all the high notes and leaves a lasting impression on everyone involved. So take a deep breath, step into the limelight, and let the symphony of words begin!

Singing Competition

  • Hannah Littler, Grade 8

I stand on the stage; a bright light is standing on me. I cannot see the audience but I know that there are a lot of people watching me. I glance sideways at my best friend Rachel. She is sitting at the piano ready to play the song I wrote for the school singing competition. It sounds so beautiful, I am glad I am friends with the pianist. I start to sing, the audience goes so quiet you could hear a pin drop. My hands are shaking I hope it does not come through in my voice. By the time I am at the chorus everyone is tapping their feet along to the song. I am so glad they are enjoying the song. It took me so long to write the lyrics and then the music. I wink at Rachel. I'm starting to enjoy myself. I start to smile as I sing and click my fingers along. This is so much fun. All my nerves are gone. When I finish the song, the audience clap and whistle. I am so glad they enjoyed it. Rachel and I take our bows and walk backstage. Some of the other performers congratulate us on our performance. We both sat back and relaxed; now we just have to wait for the judge’s decision. I could not stop myself from smiling. The other people who sing are so good. It looks like we have no chance of winning. With each person singing the audiences claps seem to be getting louder. When the last person sings we are all called onto the stage for the judges to announce the winners. In third place was a guy and a girl who sang a duet. They were really good. In second place was a girl who sang and played a guitar. She was amazing and in first place....two girls one with the voice of an angel, the other with hands like a dove. Singing an original composition, the winners of this year’s singing competition are Katy and Rachel. Oh my gosh we won. I never thought this would happen. The audience has gone wild. I don't believe it. My hard work did not go to waste. All the other performers congratulate us on a great performance. The next day at school everyone is asking for our signatures because they think we are going to become famous. Who knows we might.

Switzerland Wins Eurovision, as Protests Give Way to Spectacle

The nonbinary singer Nemo won the high-camp contest, during a night that included pro-Palestinian demonstrations outside the arena and fireworks onstage.

  • Share full article

Onstage, a person in a pink outfit holds a glass trophy in the shape of a microphone aloft and smiles broadly, while a person in a skin colored outfit touches their chest.

By Alex Marshall

Reporting from Malmo, Sweden

The run-up to this Saturday’s Eurovision Song Contest final in Malmo, Sweden, was unusually tense and anguished, with months of protests over Israel’s involvement in the competition, a contestant suspended just hours before the show began and confrontations between the police and pro-Palestinian demonstrators outside the arena on the night.

But when the final began, the uproar swiftly disappeared. Instead of protests and outrage, there was the usual high-camp spectacle, featuring singers emoting about lost loves, near-naked dancers and, at one point, a performer climbing out of a giant egg.

At the end of the four-hour show, Nemo, representing Switzerland, won with “The Code,” a catchy track in which the nonbinary performer rapped and sang operatically about their journey to realizing their identity. “I went to hell and back/To find myself on track,” Nemo sang in the chorus: “Now, I found paradise/I broke the code.”

The performance was delivered while Nemo, whose real name is Nemo Mettler and who uses they/them pronouns, balanced on a huge spinning disc.

Nemo is Switzerland’s first Eurovision winner since Celine Dion in 1988 , who represented the country despite being Canadian. They secured 591 points from music industry juries in the competition’s participating nations and viewers at home, beating Baby Lasagna, a rock act representing Croatia, who came second with 547 points.

Eden Golan , the Israeli singer who was the subject of the protests in the run-up to the event, secured 375 points to finish fifth.

On Saturday night, some audience members booed as Golan performed her song “Hurricane,” while other fans cheered to drown out the din.

Since Israel’s invasion of Gaza began after the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks, in which Israeli officials say about 1,200 people were killed and 240 taken hostage, cultural organizations worldwide have struggled with how artists should respond to the conflict from their stages, although Eurovision has found it a particular challenge.

Pro-Palestinian groups and many Eurovision fans spent months trying in vain to get the contest’s organizers, the European Broadcasting Union, to ban Israel from taking part because of its actions in Gaza, which authorities there say have killed more than 34,000 people and displaced over 1.7 million. Activists said there was a precedent: In 2022, Eurovision banned Russia after it invaded Ukraine.

The European Broadcasting Union, repeatedly dismissed those calls, saying that the show is a contest between singers, not nations.

Although Israel is not part of Europe, it is a member of the European Broadcasting Union, and the country has competed in Eurovision since 1973, winning four times. Other non-European countries, including Australia, also compete in the show, whose final attracts a live TV audience in the tens of millions.

In Malmo this week, the controversy around Israel’s participation was ever-present, and not just at the pro-Palestinian marches. Eurovision organizers had banned the display of slogans or symbols that they said could stir up dissent, including Palestinian flags. During one of the rehearsals this week, two audience members waved the banned flags, but security staff quickly removed the items.

Slimane, a pop singer representing France, also stopped singing during that rehearsal to call for peace. “Sorry I don’t speak English very well,” he said: “Every artist here wants to sing about love and sing about peace.”

In the final itself, pro-Palestinian demonstrations onstage consisted of small gestures. Iolanda, a singer representing Portugal, performed while wearing fake nails printed with a checkered pattern resembling that seen on kaffiyeh , the scarf that is a symbol of the Palestinian cause.

The uproar around Israel’s involvement was not the only crisis surrounding the contest this week. Just hours before Saturday’s final, organizers banned the Netherlands’ entry, Joost Klein, from taking part. That morning, the Swedish police said in a statement that a man was “suspected of unlawful threats” toward a Eurovision employee and officers had passed a file to prosecutors to consider charges. Eurovision organizers said in a statement that Klein was the man under investigation, and “it would not be appropriate” for him to compete in the final.

AVROTROS, the Dutch public broadcaster that picked Klein to represent the Netherlands, objected to his disqualification. In an emailed statement, a spokesperson for the broadcaster said that the organizers’ action was “disproportionate” The statement said that Klein had made “a threatening movement” toward a female camera operator, who was filming him without his consent, but had not actually touched her.

Before Saturday’s final, some fans in the arena sang Klein’s song to protest his absence.

But when the votes were counted and the winner crowned, the evening ended on an optimistic note. After accepting the winner’s trophy, Nemo, crying, said, “I hope this contest can live up to its promise, and continue to stand for peace and dignity for every person in this world.”

An earlier version of this article misstated a lyric in Nemo’s song “The Code.” It is “to find myself on track,” not “to get myself on track.”

Why is writing essays so hard?

Patterns and boring topics imposed by schools and universities are not very conducive to creativity and human development. Such essays are very difficult to write, because many are not interested in this and do not see the meaning of the text. There are a number of criteria that make it impossible to write essays:

  • Boring and incomprehensible topics. Many topics could be more interesting, but teachers formulate them in a way that makes you want to yawn.
  • Templates. 90% do not know how to make an essay interesting, how to turn this detailed answer to a question into a living story.
  • Fear of not living up to expectations. It seems to many that the essay is stupid and that they simply did not understand the question. There is a fear of getting a bad mark and disappointing the professor, parents and classmates. There is a fear of looking stupid and embarrassing in front of the team.
  • Lack of experience. People don't know what and how to write about. In order to make a good essay, you need to have a perfect understanding of the topic and have the skills of a writer.

That is why the company EssaysWriting provides its services. We remove the responsibility for the result from the clients and do everything to ensure that the scientific work is recognized.

What is the best essay writer?

The team EssaysWriting has extensive experience working with highly qualified specialists, so we know who is ideal for the role of the author of essays and scientific papers:

  • Easy to communicate. Yes, this point may seem strange to you, but believe me, as a person communicates with people, he manifests himself in the texts. The best essay writer should convey the idea easily and smoothly, without overloading the text or making it messy.
  • Extensive work experience. To start making interesting writing, you need to write a lot every day. This practice is used by all popular authors for books, magazines and forum articles. When you read an essay, you immediately understand how long a person has been working in this area.
  • Education. The ideal writer should have a philological education or at least take language courses. Spelling and punctuation errors are not allowed in the text, and the meaning should fit the given topic.

Such essay writers work in our team, so you don't have to worry about your order. We make texts of the highest level and apply for the title of leaders in this complex business.
