- Kelas Calcarea (tubuh tersusun dari calsium carbonat )
- Tipe askonoid (pori/ostium berhubungan langsung ke spongeosol.
- Sikonoid (pori / ostium dihubungkan dengan saluran bercabang dengan spongeosol)
- Leukonoid (pori / ostium banyak serta bercabang - cabang membentuk rongga rongga kecil.
- Terdiri dari tiga tipe (Askon, sikon, leukon)

- Terdiri dari tiga bagian yaitu
- Tubuh beruas-ruas terdiri atas kepala (caput), dada (toraks) dan perut (abdomen).
- Bentuk tubuh bilateral simetris, triploblastik, terlindung oleh rangka luar dari kitin.
- Alat pencernaan sempurna, pada mulut terdapat rahang lateral yang beradaptasi untuk mengunyah dan mengisap. Anus terdapat di bagian ujung tubuh.
- Sistem peredaran darah terbuka dengan jantung terletak di daerah dorsal (punggung) rongga tubuh.
- Sistem pernafasan Arthropoda yang hidup di air bernafas dengan insang, sedangkan yang hidup di darat bernafas dengan paru-paru buku atau permukaan kulit dan trakea.
- Sistem saraf berupa tanggal tali. Ganglion otak berhubungan dengan alat indera.
- Arthropoda memiliki alat indera seperti antena yang berfungsi sebagai alat peraba, mata tunggal (ocellus) dan mata majemuk (facet), organ pendengaran (pada insecta) dan statocyst (alat keseimbangan) pada Curstacea.
- Alat eksresi berupa coxal atau kelenjar hijau, saluran Malpighi.
- Alat reproduksi, biasanya terpisah. Fertilisasi kebanyakan internal (di dalam tubuh)
- Kelas Crustacea (golongan udang).
- Kelas Arachnida (golongan kalajengking dan laba-laba).
- Kelas Myriapoda (golongan luwing).
- Kelas Insecta (serangga)

- Arachnida bermanfaat untuk pengendalian populasi serangga terutama serangga hama.
- Akan tetapi hewan ini juga banyak hewan ini juga banyak merugikan manusia terutama hewan Acarina misalnya
- a. Caplak menyebabkan gatal atau kudis pada manusia
- b. Psoroptes equi menyebabkan kudis pada ternak domba, kelinci, kuda.
- c. Ododectes cynotis (tungau kudis telinga) menyerang anjing dan kucing.
- a. Chilopoda (kaki 1 psg tiap ruas)
- b. Diplopoda (kaki 2 psg tiap ruas)
- Nimfa, ialah serangga muda yang mempunyai sifat dan bentuk sama dengan dewasanya. Dalam fase ini serangga muda mengalami pergantian kulit.
- Imago (dewasa), ialah fase yang ditandai telah berkembangnya semua organ tubuh dengan baik, termasuk alat perkembangbiakan serta sayapnya
- Holometabola yaitu serangga yang mengalami metamorfosis sempurna.
- Tahapan dari daur serangga yang mengalami metamorfosis sempurna adalah telur larva pupa imago.
- Larva adalah hewan muda yang bentuk dan sifatnya berbeda dengan dewasa. Pupa adalah kepompong dimana pada saat itu serangga tidak melakukan kegiatan, pada saat itu pula terjadi penyempurnaan dan pembentukan organ. Imago adalah fase dewasa atau fase perkembangbiakan.
- Insecta terutama golongan kupu-kupu dan lebah sangat membantu para petani karena dapat membantu proses penyerbukan pada bunga.
- Insecta dibudidayakan karena dapat menghasilkan madu. Misal lebah madu (Apis mellifera).
- Dalam bidang industri, kupu-kupu, ulat sutera membuat kepompong yang dapat menghasilkan sutra (contoh Bombix mori).
- Untuk dimakan, misal laron, gangsir dan larva lebah (tempayak) yang dapat diperoleh secara musiman.
- Merupakan mata rantai makanan yang amat penting bagi kehidupan.
- Menularkan beberapa macam bibit penyakit seperti tikus, kolera dan disentri oleh lalat dan kecoak.
- Merusak tanaman budidaya manusia, misal belalang, kumbang kelapa, ulat.
- Menyebabkan penyakit pada tanaman, misal Nilapervata lugens (wereng)
- menyebabkan penyakit virus tungro, belalang (walang sangit) yang mengisap cairan biji padi muda sehingga tanaman padi menjadi puso.
- Parasit pada manusia (mengisap darah), misal nyamuk, kutu kepala dan kutu busuk.
- Merusak bahan makanan yang disimpan (tepung kedelai) oleh berbagai Coleoptera, misal kumbang beras.
- Serangga banyak yang hidup parasit pada ternak maupun ikan.
- Dapat merusak bahan bangunan, misal kumbang kayu dan rayap.
- Sistem Reproduksi Echinodermata mempunyai jenis kelamin terpisah, sehingga ada yang jantan dan betina. Fertilisasi terjadi di luar tubuh, yaitu di dalam air laut.
- Sistem pencernaan makanan hewan ini sudah sempurna.
- Sistem Pernafasan Echinodermata bernafas menggunakan paru-paru kulit atau dermal branchiae (Papulae)
- Sistem peredaran darah Echinodermata umumnya tereduksi, sukar diamati
- Sistem saraf terdiri dari cincin saraf dan tali saraf
- Abdomen bagian perut
- Antena sungut
- Apterygota serangga tak bersayap
- Decapoda hewan berkaki sepuluh
- Imago bentuk serangga dewasa
- Kokon selaput pelindung pupa dari insecta
