In this stage, you might find it helpful to formulate some research questions to help guide you. To write research questions, try to finish the following sentence: “I want to know how/what/why…”

A thesis statement is a statement of your central argument — it establishes the purpose and position of your paper. If you started with a research question, the thesis statement should answer it. It should also show what evidence and reasoning you’ll use to support that answer.

The thesis statement should be concise, contentious, and coherent. That means it should briefly summarize your argument in a sentence or two, make a claim that requires further evidence or analysis, and make a coherent point that relates to every part of the paper.

A research paper outline is essentially a list of the key topics, arguments, and evidence you want to include, divided into sections with headings so that you know roughly what the paper will look like before you start writing.

A structure outline can help make the writing process much more efficient, so it’s worth dedicating some time to create one.

Your first draft won’t be perfect — you can polish later on. Your priorities at this stage are as follows:

Falcoff’s close analysis of the ambiguity built into political language intentionally mirrors Orwell’s own point-by-point analysis of the political language of his day. Even 63 years after its publication, Orwell’s essay is emulated by contemporary thinkers.

The research paper introduction should address three questions: What, why, and how? After finishing the introduction, the reader should know what the paper is about, why it is worth reading, and how you’ll build your arguments.

What? Be specific about the topic of the paper, introduce the background, and define key terms or concepts.

Why? This is the most important, but also the most difficult, part of the introduction. Try to provide brief answers to the following questions: What new material or insight are you offering? What important issues does your essay help define or answer?

How? To let the reader know what to expect from the rest of the paper, the introduction should include a “map” of what will be discussed, briefly presenting the key elements of the paper in chronological order.

The major struggle faced by most writers is how to organize the information presented in the paper, which is one reason an outline is so useful. However, remember that the outline is only a guide and, when writing, you can be flexible with the order in which the information and arguments are presented.

One way to stay on track is to use your thesis statement and topic sentences . Check:

  • topic sentences against the thesis statement;
  • topic sentences against each other, for similarities and logical ordering;
  • and each sentence against the topic sentence of that paragraph.

Be aware of paragraphs that seem to cover the same things. If two paragraphs discuss something similar, they must approach that topic in different ways. Aim to create smooth transitions between sentences, paragraphs, and sections.

The research paper conclusion is designed to help your reader out of the paper’s argument, giving them a sense of finality.

Trace the course of the paper, emphasizing how it all comes together to prove your thesis statement. Give the paper a sense of finality by making sure the reader understands how you’ve settled the issues raised in the introduction.

You might also discuss the more general consequences of the argument, outline what the paper offers to future students of the topic, and suggest any questions the paper’s argument raises but cannot or does not try to answer.

You should not :

  • Offer new arguments or essential information
  • Take up any more space than necessary
  • Begin with stock phrases that signal you are ending the paper (e.g. “In conclusion”)

There are four main considerations when it comes to the second draft.

  • Check how your vision of the paper lines up with the first draft and, more importantly, that your paper still answers the assignment.
  • Identify any assumptions that might require (more substantial) justification, keeping your reader’s perspective foremost in mind. Remove these points if you cannot substantiate them further.
  • Be open to rearranging your ideas. Check whether any sections feel out of place and whether your ideas could be better organized.
  • If you find that old ideas do not fit as well as you anticipated, you should cut them out or condense them. You might also find that new and well-suited ideas occurred to you during the writing of the first draft — now is the time to make them part of the paper.

This study investigated managers' perceptions of employees inside a small Philippines' BPO company who migrated from an office environment to a home-based solution in 2017. The first objective was to research the literature on issues faced by managers and home-based employees within organisations. An extensive literature review was performed which revealed that trust, control and communication were key issues faced by managers who interact with remote employees. The literature also revealed that remote employees faced issues including computer faults, internet connectivity, distractions at home, and feelings of isolation. The second objective was to analyse managers' perceptions of home-based employees within the organisation in context. Managers were asked a series of open-ended questions in a semi-constructed interview format. Key findings: firstly, managers were divided about the success of the migration, although a small majority were in favour. Secondly, managers and employees experienced many of the same issues identified in the literature. Thirdly, managers' trust level on average had dropped significantly since the migration. Recommendations were made to improve managers' trust, and resolve issues faced by home-based employees. Further research is warranted as this study appears to be the only one of its kind in the Philippines' BPO industry to date.

Apparel sector is the highest income generator of the country; it brings in an income of over USD 4.8 billion as per the Central Bank report, 2015. This is an industry that deals with 15% of the country’s labour force. In the apparel sector amount of automated processors are negligible therefore no matter what instruments, machinery and tools are brought in, it is the humans who will work on these and they are the ones who use these tools, machinery and instruments. As such performance of employees is one of the critical factors that the apparel company focuses on. Owners of these factories spend huge amount of time and money on machinery and tools to obtain maximum performance. But very little focus is given for psychological factors such as job satisfaction and behavioral factor such as leadership style. This research was done to find out the relationship of job satisfaction and leadership style on employee job performance of managerial and non-managerial employees at Sumithra Group of Companies in Sri Lanka. Five dimensions were selected for the Job Satisfaction namely works it-self, pay, supervision, co-workers and working conditions. Autocratic, democratic and laissez-faire were considered as the dimension of the leadership styles. The traits, behavior and results were the dimensions of the employee job performance. Out of the 4007 active employees at the time of the research 550 employees including all managers, supervisors and worker level employee were taken into the sample and 455 have responded to the self-administrated questioner given. This study indicated that 52% of the employee job performance in Sumithra Group is explained by the job satisfaction and the leadership style. The results showed that there is a positive significant correlation between job satisfaction and the job performance as well as there is a positive significant correlation between leadership style and job performance. The results showed that job satisfaction of the employees has more influence towards job performance than the leadership style. Findings of this study revealed that the democratic leadership style had the highest positive correlation towards the job performance than the other two leadership styles that were taken into this study. Supervision, working condition and the pay had the highest correlation value toward job performance out of the five dimensions of the Job satisfaction.

It also find that there is no significant difference in employee’s response in terms of gender (male and female). Limitation- The result cannot be generalized because this study only covers the private and public banking organizations in Khulna city which does not represent the overall scenario of Bangladesh. Employees’ job satisfaction is assumed to have great importance for the success of educational systems, both private and public institutions. In the last two decades, a few researches have been conducted on the factors affecting employees’ job satisfaction in higher education sector in Somalia in general and specifically in private universities in Mogadishu. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the factors affecting employees’ job satisfaction, as well as, to explore the moderating role which organizational justice perceptions could have in the determinants of job satisfaction. The study was conducted on a sample systematically selected from the administration team and employees of two selected private universities in Mogadishu, Somalia; namely University of Somalia (UNISO) and SIMAD University. The study used quantitative cross sectional survey research design by employing structured questionnaire adapted from previous studies. A sample of the selected universities employee members (N = 350) was asked to fill out the instrument that was classified into three (3) sections. The first section included 7 demographic variables. The second section was based on the questionnaire adapted from Boeve (2007) consisting of 55 questions relating to the job facets to measure employees’ job satisfaction. The last part was based on a questionnaire adapted from Neihoff and Moorman (1993) consisting of 20 questions about organizational justice perceptions. Three hundred eleven employees responded, which represented about 89% of the response rate. After collecting questionnaire forms from the respondents, the researcher analyzed the data by using statistical techniques to test the questions of the study. The results indicated a high satisfaction level for the employees of the private universities in Mogadishu. The results also showed the existence of a positive significant correlation between the overall job satisfaction and Job Descriptive Index (JDI) factors of work itself, pay, promotion opportunities, supervisor support, and coworker relations. Furthermore, the results also established positive moderating role of organizational justice perceptions on the affect relationship between JDI factors and overall job satisfaction. Finally, the study concluded with a number of recommendations for the administration and management team of the private universities in Mogadishu, Somalia. It also suggested some areas for future research.
