Instructions pertaining to Reservation of Seats, Fees, general eligibility criteria and Exam pattern for PhD Entrance Test – 2023

• Submission of application for PhD Programme will be online only. The candidate can only apply for one Programme as the Entrance Test shall be conducted for all the Programmes on the same day.
• Application Fee for  submission of online application is  Rs 1000.  
• Application fee is  non-refundable.
• The number of seats to be advertised in different categories (GEN/OBC/SC/ST/EWS) is as per the Reservation Policy for Research Degree Programmes and DOPT,Govt of India .norms amended from time to time.  Appendix II of the Information Brochure  may be referred in this regard. 
• No request for   change in reservation category,   shall be entertained once the application has been successfully submitted.
• Five percent (5%) seats shall be reserved for Persons with Disabilities (with not less than 40% disability). However such candidates shall be adjusted against the appropriate category (Gen/SC/ST/OBC/EWS) to which they belong (Ref.Annexure II of Information Brochure 2023).
• Candidates awarded with fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET/UGC- CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar National level tests, as per the validity specified by the regulatory bodies, shall be exempted from Entrance Test and their selection will be based on interview. These candidates shall be considered as Category- A. Such candidates have to upload their valid fellowship award letter from the concerned implementing / awarding agency.
• For Category A Candidates , interview shall carry 100% weightage. All eligible candidates from Category A will be called for the interview.
• For Category B Candidates , the Entrance Test shall carry a weightage of 70% and 30% weightage shall be given to the interview. Those who secure at least 50% marks in the Entrance Test (45% marks in case of SC/ST/OBC (Non Creamy layers) / Differently abled persons and EWS) will be shortlisted for the interview in order of merit subject to the maximum limit of five times of the available seats.

Stage II: Interview:

• Eligible candidates from Category A & Category B shall be called for interview before the Discipline Specific Admission committee. Information in this regard shall be uploaded on the University website. The respective disciplines/ schools will communicate regarding the requirement for the interview.
• The interview shall have three components comprising Research Methodology (40%) Subject domain (40%) and Communication Skills (20%).
• Admission to the Ph.D Degree Programmes is strictly on merit, based on the performance in the Entrance Test and Interview taken together.
• A candidate will be eligible for admission and registration for the PhD programme, on the fulfillment of the following conditions :
• Candidates who have completed:
• A 1-year/2-semester master's degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade is allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision as per the decision of the UGC from time to time. Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

In case, a candidate does not meet these minimum eligibility criteria and appears in the written examination, it is at the candidate’s own risk and cost, and if at any stage, it is found that the minimum eligibility requirements are not fulfilled, the admission, if granted, shall be cancelled ipso facto.

Syllabus and Question paper

• a) The syllabus of the Entrance Test is as per the ‘University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of PhD Degree) Regulations, 2022 comprising 50% on Research methodology and 50% on specific subject. The syllabus for each discipline is annexed at Appendix III of information brochure.
• b)  The question paper shall have questions consisting of  50% on research methodology and 50% on specific subject .

IGNOU PhD in Psychology Admission 2024: Indira Gandhi National Open University has closed the registration procedure for the PhD in Psychology in the January 2024 academic session. The last date was 31 December 2023 for IGNOU PhD Psychology Admission in the January session. Students can visit the official portal of the university  @ignouphdjuly23.samarth.edu.in . The registration fee is INR 1,000 for the PhD Psychology course. IGNOU PhD Psychology Entrance Exam has been completed On 7 January 2024.

The scientific study of how people think and behave is known as psychology. A Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology is a very advanced level of study. The results of this study contribute to our growing understanding of the functioning of the brain. In most cases, it takes up to 3 years to complete. The university’s graduate students are the ones who learn it there.

To apply in this course students must have passed out a PG Degree through a recognised University or college. Any UG & PG integrated degree students are also eligible for this IGNOU PhD in Psychology course.

• For IGNOU PhD in Psychology admission, a student must have a Master’s degree in Psychology from a university UGC .
• The application and admission procedure are completed entirely online. 
• An entrance exam and an interview decide whether or not a student is allowed into the university.
• There is a national-level entrance exam that the NTA runs to choose aspirants. The test will take place in 13 different cities.
• Students must obtain 50% on the admission exam to be canvassed.
• MPhil or NET graduates are exempted from the entrance exam and an interview.
• Acceptance letters are sent to students who have been chosen.

Students with a reasonable degree of M.Phil are eligible to apply for admission in this degree course. The admission is generally based upon the merit of marks obtained by the applicants in the entrance exam.

Registration into PhD in Psychology course has closed at IGNOU for the January session. IGNOU released the application form for the PhD psychology program yearly on the online portal of the University. The IGONOU offers eight subjects Economics, Anthropology, Political Science, History, Library and Information Science, Public Administration, Sociology, and Psychology. PhD in psychology is a minimum 3-year duration programme and a maximum of 6-year duration programme, the course fee is INR 16800 per year.  Aspirants will be offered admission to the university based on their performance in the entrance examination, which is conducted by the university to judge their eligibility.

PhD Psychology IGNOU Eligibility

Students who want to get admitted to a course have to qualify for the entrance examination conducted by IGNOU University. It is conducted at the National level. To Pursue PhD in Psychology from IGNOU. Candidates must have a master’s degree with a minimum of 55% of the grade for the General Category and 50% of the grade for SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and Disabled students can get a 5 percent relaxation in marks as per the UGC decision also Students should have a valid passed certificate from an authorized University or College.

IGNOU PhD in Psychology Fees

PhD in Psychology minimum duration is 3 years and the maximum duration is 6 years at Indira Gandhi National Open University. A PhD in Psychology will cost you a total of Rs. 16800 as part of the tuition fee. There is the option for students to pay this fee in annual instalments. A registration fee of Rs. 1000 is also required for fresh admission.

Possesses Master’s Degree from a University recognized by UGC or any other qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in such fields of study as are notified for the purpose from time to time by the University with at least 55% marks [50% marks in the case of SC, ST, OBC (Non-creamy Layer) and Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of UGC from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19th September, 1991]excluding grace mark.

• If you are a first time applicant you are advised to click the available programme tab on the homepage of the Online Admission System and select the desired programme and carefully read the details of programme including eligibility criteria, fee details, duration, etc.

Please provide your own email and mobile number at the time of registration.

• Remember, while choosing your UserName it must be between 8 to 16 characters.
• While choosing your password it must be alphanumeric and between 8 to 16 characters long.
• After filling the mandatory information click the "SUBMIT" button.
• Your username will be instantly sent to you via e-mail and SMS.
• Remember your Username and Password for subsequent login.
• If you have already registered i.e you are an existing user click the "LOGIN" button.
• Scanned Photograph (less than 100 KB)
• Scanned Signature (less than 100 KB)
• Scanned copy of relevant Educational Qualification (less than 200 KB)
• Scanned Copy of Experience Certificate (if any) (less than 200 KB)
• Scanned Copy of Category Certificate, if SC/ST/OBC (less than 200 KB)

Registration fee, Cancellation of Admission and Refund of Fee

A non-refundable Registration Fee shall be charged along with the programme fee of first semester/year at the time of admission.

If a student applies for cancellation of application/admission and refund of fee, the refund request will be considered as per the University policy as under:

Before confirmation of admission:  Full Programme fee paid shall be refunded.  

After confirmation of admission:

Within 15 days of confirmation of admission : Programme Fee paid shall be refunded after deduction of Rs.500/- .  

Within 16-90 days of confirmation of admission:   Programme Fee paid shall be refunded after deduction of Rs.1000/- .  

After 90 days of confirmation of admission:   No refund shall be allowed.

Ignou phd 2022 exam pattern, ignou phd 2022 instructions, prior to entering the examination center:.

• Arrive at the exam centre one hour before the time listed on your admission card.
• Please have a full breakfast or a light lunch before departing for the location, depending on the programme. Drink lots of fluids, as dehydration can develop up throughout the heat, harming your exam performance.
• Just before entering the centre, eat a cookie or a chocolate bar; this will avoid hypoglycemia and help you stay attentive longer, increasing your outcomes.
• If it's a crowded shopping centre, don't put off the admission and security checks until the last minute.
• You will not be permitted to enter after the time limit for closing the doors has passed.
• The Admit Card is required for entry to the Exam Center; no applicants shall be admitted without it.
• Normally, no luggage are permitted.
• No food is permitted.
• Mobile phones, pagers, wireless sets, scanners, cameras, or any other electronic or digital device are not permitted in the exam centre; bringing one will result in disqualification.

As soon as you enter the centre:

• Candidates should find their allotted hall and seat once they arrive at the facility.
• Before entering the centre, applicants will be hand frisked, photographed, and video graphed if specified.
• After completing all of the requirements, applicants should proceed to the allocated venue and take a seat.
• Rough work is to be done in the space given for this purpose on Objective Type question sheets. Under no circumstances is rough work permitted on the OMR Answer Sheet.
• Only the answer sheet is to be used to answer questions.
• Inside the Test Centre, copying, using dishonest techniques of any type, talking, asking questions of other candidates, and borrowing of material are all strictly forbidden.
• The applicants must hand in their OMR answer sheets as well as the entire question paper to the Centre Superintendent. Tearing or removing the question paper is prohibited, and applicants who do so will be disqualified from the whole Entrance Test.
• It is not permitted to smoke.
• Any type of misbehaviour can result in the candidate's expulsion.
• If you are caught copying or assisting in copying, your answer sheet will be cancelled, and your candidacy will be cancelled.
• Any marking on the answer sheet or question paper will result in the test being cancelled.
