This program of  NPTEL , the National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning, Government of India, has been running since 2007.

Seven IIT professors, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, have jointly prepared several online courses under the Nptel program.

NPTEL  is a project run or Partner by the IITs and IISc Bangalore and is funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

No.it Not a difficult task to clear the NPTEL certification.Very Easy If We Study All Videos And Solve All Quiz or Assignment Of Nptel Time To Time Than We Easy To scores Above 80%.

My Experience This Year and Previous Year

In the previous year, Experienced there were questions from the assignment mostly(60% Quiz and 40% video Lecture And Some questions From handwritten notes).

But the sad part of the story is that I just did not study the question and did not study from handwritten notes, instructor notes, and videos.

So I had to stay in the examination room for a long time because I had to solve the problem by analyzing the code assigned to the question and numerical for some of them.

3 hours remained basically enough to fill out the document.

This year, NPTEL surprised me: NO QUESTIONS FROM ASSIGNMENT . 

But here comes the good part of the story. Fortunately, I also studied this time with handwritten notes, instructor notes, and videos.

So I was pretty comfortable with the questions. But yes, compared to last year, we had to think a lot to conclude the solution this time.

The conclusion is to study in-depth from the video and understand each concept explained. You can skip the instructor’s notes, but you can also skip the content of the video.

So, I encourage you to write notes while you watch the video. This saves a lot of time a day before the exam.

NPTEL (Swayam) Course Examination Experience

NPTEL is an acronym for National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning which is an initiative by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, and Roorkee) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) for creating course contents in engineering and science.

Many students who dream of attending scholarly institutions, through NPTEL will have access to quality content from them.

There are courses on multiple streams both technical and non-technical. The courses are for 4 weeks, 8 weeks and 12 weeks usually.

I have taken many courses on NPTEL up until now but have taken exams for the following courses.

• An introduction to programming through: C++ 12 Weeks (by Professor Abhiram G Ranade)
• Programming in Java: 12 Weeks (by Professor Debasis Samanta)
• Data structures and algorithms using Java: 12 Weeks (by prof Debasis Samanta)

Introduction to programming through C++: The procedures for all the examinations were similar, here I will be talking about “An introduction to Programming through C++”

• The 12-week course was taught by Prof. Abhiram G. Ranade of the Computer Science and Engineering department at IIT Bombay.
• It is a core undergraduate course where each week new topics were covered very thoroughly. Each week has assignments consisting of 5 coding questions and 10 MCQs of that week’s subject.
• About the 10th-week applications for exams will be opened, and we will be asked to select our examination centers. The course is free to enroll but a fee of 1000/- is to be paid for the exam.
• Prior exams we will be notified to download hall tickets and should take a physical copy of it and an identity card along with us to the exam hall.
• The exam is for 3 hours, each of us will be assigned an individual computer. Exam will have mostly MCQs depending on the course and is for 100 marks. The questions are ranged from easy to hard and everything will be by the course itself.

Criteria to get a Certificate: 

• Average assignment score = 25% of the average of best 8 assignments out of the total 12 assignments given in the course.  
• Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100
• Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

You will be eligible for the certificate only if Average Assignment Score >= 10/25 & Exam score>= 30/75

An e certificate will be provided after the results are announced and the criteria’s fulfilled

Three most important modules for exam are Simple Linear Regression, Multiple Linear Regression, and Selecting the best regression model.  Significant importance is also given to the modules Model Adequacy Checking, Test for  Influential Observations, Transformation and weighting to correct model inadequacies, and Dummy Variables.  Following modules are not so important for exam purpose: Multicollinearity, Poly Regression model and Generalised Linear model. Regression analysis : Exam Type and Certificate Format

Dear Candidate, Type of exam: Computer based exam  You will have to appear at the allotted exam center and produce your Hall ticket and Government Photo Identification Card (Example: Driving License, Passport, PAN card, Voter ID, Aadhaar-ID with your Name, date of birth, photograph and signature) for verification and take the exam in person.  You can find the final allotted exam center details in the hall ticket. The questions will be on the computer and the answers will have to be entered on the computer; type of questions may include multiple choice questions, fill in the blanks, essay-type answers, etc. The hall ticket will be available for download tentatively around  Nov 5 - 14, 2019 . We will notify the same through email and SMS. Final Exam Pattern

Dear All,  All questions in final exam are of MCQ type. There are three sections. In Section A, we have 20 MCQ with 1 point each. In Section B, we have 20 MCQ with 2 points each. In Section C, we have about 15 questions with either 2 or 3 points each.  Final exam questions are similar to that of assignments.  Best wishes, Soumen

Regression analysis : Steps to access the assignment through Mobile App

Dear Learners   Assignments have been released for all courses for week 1. If you are using the mobile app, please ensure you see the assignment link. If you don't, please do the following steps:  Step 1:  Go to setting on your android phone  Step 2:  Go to the “Apps” in the settings  Step 3:  You will get a list of apps. Click on Swayam app  Step 4:  You will see app info. Go to the storage in the app info  Step 5:  Click on clear data and clear cache button.  Step 6:  Login again to the SWAYAM app using the credentials used to enroll in the course.  Please note that if the OS version in your Android phone is 6, the content may not show up properly. REMINDER 2: Regression analysis : REGISTER TODAY - CERTIFICATION EXAM FORM IS NOW OPEN!

Dear Learner,  Here is the much-awaited announcement on  registering  for the  Nov 2019 NPTEL online  certification exam.   1.    The  registration  for the certification exam is  open  only to those learners who have enrolled in the course. 2.    If you want to  register  for the exam for this course,  login here using the same email id which you had used to enroll to the course in Swayam portal .  3.    Till the start date of the course,  every Monday and Thursday at 5:00 PM ,  we will sync the enrollment data on the exam form. If you enroll in between,  please wait till the nearest Tuesday/Friday 10:00 AM to  register  for the exam . Welcome to SWAYAM-NPTEL Online Course:Regression analysis

• Every week, about 2.5 to 4 hours of videos containing content by the Course instructor will be released along with an assignment based on this.  Please watch the lectures, follow the course regularly and submit all assessments and assignments before the due date. Your regular participation is vital for learning and doing well in the course. This will be done week on week through the duration of the course.
• Please do the assignments yourself and even if you take help, kindly try to learn from it. These assignment will help you prepare for the final exams. Plagiarism and violating the Honor code will be taken very seriously if detected during the submission of assignments. 
• The announcement group - will only have messages from course instructors and teaching assistants - regarding the lessons, assignments, exam registration, hall tickets etc.    
• The discussion forum (Ask a question tab on the portal) - is for everyone to ask questions and interact.Anyone who knows the answers can reply to anyone's post and the course instructor/TA will also respond to your queries. Please make maximum use of this feature as this will help you learn much better.
• If you have any questions regarding the exam, registration, hall tickets, results, queries related to the technical content in the lectures, any doubts in the assignments, etc can be posted in the forum section
• The course is free to enroll and learn from. But if you want a certificate, you have to register and write the proctored exam conducted by us in person at any of the designated exam centres.
• The exam is optional for a fee of  Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
• Date and Time of Exams: 16th November 2019,  Morning session 9am to 12 noon; Afternoon Session 2pm to 5pm.
• Registration url:  Announcements will be made when the registration form is open for registrations.
• The online registration form has to be filled and the certification exam fee needs to be paid. More details will be made available when the exam registration form is published. If there are any changes, it will be mentioned then.
• Please check the form for more details on the cities where the exams will be held, the conditions you agree to when you fill the form etc.
