500 Words Essay On Teachers' Day

The word "teacher" in India refers to more than just a profession. With a teacher, there is an intense emotion. If we look at ancient India, we can see how essential gurus (teachers) were in influencing the views of their followers.

Role Of Teacher In Life

Make learning enjoyable: Along with educating, their primary responsibility is to get kids ready for a better future. Instead of presenting concepts in in-depth, technical lectures, they make their classes engaging and enjoyable.

Connecting to actual events: The children's closest friends are good teachers. By relating various subjects to actual events, they facilitate learning. Using real-world examples, they show how even the most complex subjects can be understood and how doing so would benefit the future.

Motivate Learners: Teachers help pupils develop since they frequently look to them for approval. Compliments like "come on," "good job," "well done," and "keep it up" go a long way in motivating children. These appropriate remarks have great value in their lives. They always inspire us to attain our greatest accomplishments in addition to teaching us. They support us, cheer us on, and boost our confidence whenever we fail so that we may keep trying until we achieve. They constantly show us the ideal course for our lives. They consistently go above and beyond to assist pupils.

Alter the course of your life: It is true what is claimed that "excellent instructors hold the future growth of a nation in their hands". The quality of the education we receive from our teachers determines who we become in life. Children's minds are given data and information to examine the scenario. The most critical skill we acquire from teachers is the ability to analyse what is essential. They fashion an exquisite statue out of an unformed stone. They increase our understanding and promote the proper transfer of knowledge from one generation to the next.

Monitor Progress & Set Performance Objectives: The best teachers always succeed in pointing out to their students how far they have come since the beginning. Establishing short-term goals, encouraging improvement, and maintaining self-evaluation keeps track of the kids' every move and is a confidence builder. Teachers support students by providing them with clear objectives that are doable. For pupils, they design challenging assignments that aid them in resolving problematic situations in life.

My Teachers’ Day Celebration

The 5th of September is designated as Teacher's Day each year to commemorate the birth of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan , a legendary educator in his day. A small celebration for our teachers was held on this occasion in our school. At seven in the morning, teachers' day activities began. The school captain gave a brief statement to introduce the event and discuss the significance of teachers and their role in building nations. The ceremony was opened by lighting a candle in front of Maa Saraswati's statue , representing wisdom and peace. The first performance by the sixth-grade children began at precisely 9:00 a.m.

Sujana ma'am taught me English for the first time. She is very knowledgeable and kind and is also my favourite teacher. I played the role of Sujana ma'am in the annual tradition of students dressing up as their favourite teachers for the day. I hold all teachers in the highest regard.

A lot has changed for teachers across history. “In antiquity, the middle ages, and up until the mid-1800s in the United States, teachers were almost entirely men,” says W. Robert Houston . “That has changed in the last 100 years; only 30% of teachers are males, and those teach primarily in secondary school.” In addition to the increase in numbers of female educators over the past century, the perception of teachers in society has undergone a significant transformation. At the turn of the 20th century, teachers were often viewed as authority figures, tasked with imparting knowledge and discipline in a highly structured and traditional educational system. However, as societies evolved and educational philosophies shifted, so did the role and status of teachers. The mid-20th century saw a growing appreciation for educators as they became recognized as facilitators of critical thinking and personal growth.

With the advent of the 21st century, teachers have come to be seen as nurturers of individual potential, mentors, and guides in a rapidly changing world. “Expectations of teachers reflect their culture – the extent of their knowledge and skills, their status in the community, and their moral dispositions” (Houston, 2009 ).

“We are in a time of such tremendous change and innovation,” says Jessica Carrier, an 18-year veteran educator in English/ELL and current Customer Engagement Manager at Turnitin. “Students have the world at their fingertips, so we must empower students by employing more strategies to support critical thinking and reasoning. We must adapt to the changing world, whether it’s by embracing new technologies such as AI innovation or by employing new instructional strategies to engage students differently. Although this change may be overwhelming, it’s a great time of possibilities.”

There is a well-known saying in reference to education, stating that “the quality of an education system cannot exceed the quality of its teachers.” World Teachers’ Day plays a crucial role in elevating the status of teachers. This global observance acknowledges the invaluable contributions of educators to society. It serves as a reminder of their dedication, hard work, and the profound impact they have on shaping the future of nations.

By recognizing teachers on this day, communities and governments alike emphasize the importance of investing in education and ensuring that high-quality teachers receive the support and respect they deserve. In doing so, World Teachers’ Day reaffirms the pivotal role that teachers play in fostering knowledge, empathy, and progress in our ever-evolving world.

How is Teachers’ Day celebrated around the world?

World Teachers' Day is celebrated with various activities and events worldwide, highlighting the significance of educators in our lives. These celebrations vary from one country to another but share a common theme of appreciating the hard work and dedication of teachers.

In many countries, students express their gratitude to teachers through cards, gifts, and heartfelt messages. We Are Teachers provides twenty-seven ways to show teachers appreciation, including renting an ice cream truck or writing messages of gratitude in sidewalk chalk outside of school. Educational institutions organize special assemblies and events to honor their teaching staff. Conferences, seminars, and workshops are held to discuss innovative teaching methods and address the challenges faced by educators.

Many argue that this day demands more than just thank you cards; rather, it requires action taken and change imagined. This year’s theme ("The teachers we need for the education we want: The global imperative to reverse the teacher shortage") highlights the fact that the pandemic and other societal shifts have put pressure on the teaching profession, creating attrition and deterring many individuals from even entering education.

According to UNESCO’s estimates , there is a global need for an additional 24.4 million teachers in primary education and some 44.4 million teachers for secondary education in order to achieve universal basic education by 2030. And some 300,000 public-school teachers and other staff in the US left the education field between February 2020 and May 2022, says Kathryn Dill from the Wall Street Journal .

As such, many organizations around the world are doing what they can to increase retention and inspire individuals to enter the education sphere.

In 2017, the Spanish trade unions celebrated World Teachers’ Day by releasing a manifesto, stressing that “(...) a plan for the recovery of the social benefits and working conditions of teachers is crucial, to provide the dignity of the teaching work, with decent working conditions, safe and healthy environments with adequate resources, confidence, professional autonomy, quality initial and continuous professional development”.

In 2020, The Brookings Institution , a nonprofit organization conducting in-depth, nonpartisan research, published a collection of twelve essays from leading scholars affiliated with the Global Economy and Development program at Brookings, entitled “ Reimagining the global economy: Building back better in a post-COVID-19 world .” Emiliana Vegas and Rebecca Winthrop tackled global education and sought to explore ways to transform school systems following the pandemic. Their essay determined five key elements of school transformation:

1. “Leverage public schools and put them at the center of education systems given their essential role in equalizing opportunity across society.

2. Focus on the instructional core, the heart of the teaching and learning process.

3. Deploy education technology to power up schools in a way that meets teaching and learning needs and prevent technology from becoming a costly distraction.

4. Forge stronger, more trusting relationships between parents and teachers.

5. Embrace the principles of improvement science required to evaluate, course correct, document, and scale new approaches that can help power up schools over time” ( 2020 ).

In 2022, Leeds Trinity University (UK), encouraged individuals on World Teachers’ Day to work as “governors in local schools” and to “contact local MP or councillors” to ask what they are doing to help schools solve their issues.

It is also worth noting that many countries around the world celebrate World Teachers' Day NOT on October 5th, but have instead chosen to have their own national day , some of which are based on events relating to famous historical educators. A few global dates to note are:

  • February 28: In many Arab countries, including Morocco and Jordan, Teachers’ Day is celebrated on this day.
  • October 15: Brazil commemorates Emperor Peter I signing the law that established schools for teaching literacy in all cities and villages.
  • March 28: Slovakia marks the birthday of Jan Amos Komensky, born in 1592, a Czech educator, philosopher, writer, and theologian.
  • September 28: While not an official holiday, this date commemorates the birth of Confusius and in Taiwan, it is customary to give gifts to teachers on this day.

World Teachers' Day goes beyond simple recognition and gratitude; it serves as a critical opportunity to reflect on history, on the challenges teachers encounter, and to contemplate how policy changes and community efforts can positively transform the teaching profession.

By acknowledging the hurdles educators face, from overcrowded classrooms to limited resources, we can start meaningful conversations about how to better support and empower them. It's a moment to consider innovative teaching methods, professional development, fair compensation, and the overall well-being of teachers. By collectively recognizing these challenges and working together, we can shape a brighter future for education, ensuring that teachers are equipped to provide the best possible learning experiences for the generations to come.

What is the importance of World Teachers’ Day for educators?

World Teachers' Day holds great importance for educators and academic administrators alike. It offers a platform to reflect on the transformative power of education and the crucial role teachers play in this process.

“Engaging students in work that matters must be the goal of education,” says Karen Smith, a 34-year veteran educator and a Turnitin Senior Teaching and Learning Specialist. “I believe that the current dichotomy that exists now between educators who want to return to pre-pandemic educational practices and those who want to embrace AI and other transformational practices must be balanced somehow, with a focus on empowering students to become ethical global citizens.”

“The world has changed. Students have changed,” emphasizes Carrier. “Previous instructional methods may no longer be relevant and how we engage our students may no longer be applicable, so it’s important that we listen and adapt to the needs of the students of today.”

And as educators listen to and empower students in an ever-changing landscape, it’s important to reflect on a few key tenants of education that remain steady, even in the face of change. A few of these include:

  • Promoting literacy: Teachers are the torchbearers of literacy. They introduce students to the world of diverse books and knowledge , opening doors to a lifetime of learning. On World Teachers' Day, educators are reminded of their pivotal role in helping students become proficient readers and writers.
  • Fostering academic integrity: Teachers instill a strong sense of academic integrity and ethical behavior in their students. They teach the importance of honesty, originality, and responsible research. World Teachers' Day emphasizes the need for nurturing not only intellectual growth but also ethical development.
  • Cultivating critical thinking: Education is not just about memorizing facts; it's about developing critical thinking skills. Teachers encourage students to question, analyze, and evaluate information critically. In celebrating this day, educators reaffirm their commitment to nurturing independent thinkers.
  • Nurturing creativity: Creativity is the cornerstone of innovation. Teachers inspire creativity in their students, fostering the next generation of artists, inventors, and problem solvers. In fact, 65% of students cite doing and creating as the most effective methods of learning. World Teachers' Day underscores the importance of fostering creativity and innovation in education.

In addition to the above, it’s clear that artificial intelligence is quickly becoming a focus for students and global educators. “We must help students become AI literate,” shares Kristin Van Gompel, former elementary school teacher, adjunct education professor, and Turnitin Manager of Customer Engagement. “AI is quickly evolving and we need to ensure our students understand how to use it ethically and safely. It’s challenging for educators because we’re trying to understand AI almost in tandem with our students so it can feel impossible to get ahead of it. I think what will help us come together in our thinking is to pay attention to the guidelines and best practices for AI being set by researchers, policy makers, and organizations.”

Conclusion: Gratitude for our educators on World Teachers’ Day

As we celebrate World Teachers' Day, it's essential to acknowledge the formidable challenges that educators face worldwide, from resource limitations to changing pedagogical landscapes. Teachers are the cornerstone of our societies, shaping the future leaders and innovators who will address the global challenges of tomorrow. They are not just individuals in classrooms but catalysts for progress, equity, and enlightenment. As we commemorate this day, let's remember that the responsibility to elevate education does not rest solely on the shoulders of teachers, but on all of us.

"Education is a team sport," says Carrier. "The only way to truly innovate and truly support each other is to share, share, share- whether it’s a new instructional strategy, manner of engagement, or even that last cookie left in the teachers’ lounge, we must share. We must remember that we are sharing the responsibility of educating students together, learning together, sometimes failing together, and above all, educating together.”

We all have a role to play, whether through policy changes, community support, or simply by expressing our gratitude and respect. Every day is an opportunity to prioritize education and ensure that our teachers are equipped to inspire the next generation. Together, we can raise education to its highest level, paving the way for a brighter and more prosperous future for all.

A celebration of strength and resilience this World Teachers’ Day

Video showing teachers working with children in various classroom settings.

According to Google Trends, over the last 18 months, searches for “missing my students” increased 150%, and searches for “bulletin board ideas” dropped to an all-time low in April 2020.

Some of the top questions searched were things like “How can educators support students who are struggling with distance learning?,” “How can students and teachers build a useful virtual classroom community?” and even “What does remote learning mean?” Clearly, educators — at home or in the classroom — have had plenty of challenges. So for this World Teachers’ Day, we put together a place where you can see other education and learning-related searches and trends from the past year.

Despite the many questions, I’m inspired by the strength of our incredible global educator community. On this World Teachers’ Day we’re sharing stories of how they found a way to teach during a year that has taught us so many lessons.

Ann sits at her desk where she teaches her students both virtually and in-person.

Ann Kerr — Administrator, California, USA

Like many districts around the world, Ann saw an increase in stress across staff and students. To help students who were struggling, she tutored in the evenings after school to help students navigate the changes. Her efforts helped one student not only understand how to use Google Classroom but also their assignments, and the student raised their grades above passing before the end of the year. Even though they had only met through Google Meet, they made a real connection.

Jeff teaches students in person at Norwalk Public Schools.

Jeffrey Bradbury — Lead Instructional Coach for Digital Learning, Connecticut, USA Jeff also saw a need to support the mental health of his students. This year, he co-led Norwalk Public Schools to launch a brand new Digital Learning Department to support teachers with not only using digital tools, but also to provide social and emotional support both in and out of the classroom.

Vanessa teaches her students in a computer lab in Brazil.

Vanessa Almeida — K-12 Public School Teacher and Pedagogical Coordinator, Amazonas, Brazil Vanessa started preparing her school for online teaching in 2017, years before the pandemic — but nothing could  have prepared her for what was to come. She set out to create a more connected and efficient usage of the technology resources; at one point she worked for 48 hours straight to make sure all students had Google Workspace for Education accounts. This meant that her school continued its classes uninterrupted during the transition from face-to-face to remote learning. Even today, Vanessa offers her lunch break to teach students on various online tools.

Suyanti teaches Biology to her students remotely.

Suyanti Witono — 10th and 12th grade Biology Teacher, Jakarta, Indonesia Suyanti is also no stranger to working overtime for her community. Once a stranger to remote learning, Suyanti spent her summer break going back to school herself. She took online courses and webinars to push herself to be prepared for whatever the upcoming academic year would bring. She learned about new online tools and how to use them to support her students from afar. After completing these courses, Suyanti was able to come back to the unknown with confidence. This extended to her students and the second wave of remote learning was not only easier, but more collaborative. Aside from lesson plans, she focused on engaging students with critical thinking, enhancing creativity and promoting effective communication  by using collaborative tools like Google Slides and Pear Deck.

Janice at her desk at Muirtown Primary School in Scotland.

Janice MacRae —  Head Teacher, Highland Council, Scotland Janice and the Muirtown Primary School in Inverness, Scotland knew it would be important to  maintain extracurriculars no matter what the circumstances, given how beneficial they are for kids. Every year, they host the “Muirtown’s Got Talent” show, which usually takes place at school with in-person voting. The curtains still rose this year, but on a very different stage: The performances were recorded and uploaded to a Google Site, and parents voted via Google Forms (which actually garnered more participation).

Renee sits at her desk with a mask teaching her students.

Renee Bogacz — Instructional Technology Teacher, Illinois

Like many other teachers, Renee found a silver lining to the struggles of the school year. “The last school year may have been the most challenging school year of every educator’s career, but it will also be the most memorable,” Renee says. “It will be the one where we all came together to find thoughtful and creative ways to support our kids in ways we never dreamed.”

This last year is a reminder of the incredible strength and resilience of educators. I saw firsthand how passionately students wanted to learn and grow, and how incredibly they performed when given the right environment and resources.

I’m so lucky to work with and learn from inspiring educators from around the world every day. Thank you to teachers everywhere for your strength and Happy World Teachers’ Day. You can celebrate further by joining a Google teacher community in your area .

World Teachers Day 2023: A Day for Recognition and Support

Saying “thanks” is just the start.

Spiral notebook illustration that says World Teachers Day: An international holiday to recognize and support teachers, now and in the future

Each October, we celebrate World Teachers Day. But what exactly is this holiday, and how is it different from Teacher Appreciation Day? Learn all about this special day, and find ideas for celebrating World Teachers Day 2023.

When is World Teachers Day?

World Teachers Day is held each year on October 5. It commemorates the 1966 signing of the International Labour Organization (ILO)-United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Recommendation Concerning the Status of Teachers . This important document set international standards for the treatment of teachers, including recruitment, training, continuing education, and labor conditions.

Note that some countries celebrate World Teachers Day on a different date, depending on their local school calendars and customs. For instance, India celebrates on September 5, while Australia holds it on the last Friday in October.

What is World Teachers Day?

First celebrated in 1994, World Teachers Day was created by UNESCO and Education International (EI) . It’s an international holiday, one that’s meant to recognize the importance of teachers across the globe.

You might be wondering how World Teachers Day is different from Teacher Appreciation Day or Week. Teacher Appreciation Day/Week is a U.S. holiday, held toward the end of each school year in May. Its purpose is to give students, parents, and the community a chance to thank teachers for all their hard work throughout the year.

World Teachers Day has a somewhat loftier goal. While this is definitely a day to show teacher appreciation, it’s also a time to consider bigger issues related to teaching and education. Each year, UNESCO and EI partner to create a theme. They then use World Teachers Day as a springboard to draw community and media attention to this theme, starting conversations on topics that matter to teachers. Past themes have included Teacher Empowerment (2017) and The Transformation of Education Begins With Teachers (2022).

What’s the theme for World Teachers Day 2023?

Spiral notebook illustration that says World Teachers Day Theme: The Teachers We Need for the Education We Want: The Global Imperative to Reverse the Teacher Shortage

For 2023, UNESCO/EI have declared the theme to be: “The Teachers We Need for the Education We Want: The Global Imperative to Reverse the Teacher Shortage.”

Educators everywhere know just how timely 2023’s theme is. Statistics show that 55% of teachers now expect to leave the profession earlier than they had planned, with 35% expecting to quit in the next two years. Nearly half of BIPOC teachers say they’re unlikely to stay in the classroom in the years to come. ( Learn more about these teacher shortage statistics here. )

In many states and communities, teaching becomes more challenging every day. New laws regularly restrict what and how educators teach. Cuts in funding strip away vital education resources and lower teacher salaries. We’re facing a dangerous time when even schools with plenty of funding still may not be able to find qualified teachers willing to stay in the classroom.

Focusing the World Teachers Day 2023 theme on reversing the global teacher shortage may help bring this issue front and center, forcing communities to face the startling facts about this looming crisis.

How can we celebrate World Teachers Day?

Schools and communities can (and should) take several approaches to celebrating World Teachers Day 2023. First, spend the day appreciating teachers, publicly and privately, for their hard work. We’ve got some fun ideas to try below.

But even more importantly, take the opportunity to bring wider attention to major teacher issues, including 2023’s teacher shortage theme. If we want to show teachers we truly appreciate them, we need to actually support them in and out of the classroom. Appreciation gifts and thank-you notes are lovely, but what teachers really want is recognition of the issues they face, financial and administrative support of their actions, and respect for their skill and expertise . We have suggestions for how schools and communities can do that too.

World Teachers Day: Teacher Appreciation and Recognition Ideas

  • Thank a teacher. Encourage students, parents, and the community to write thank-you notes to teachers in their lives. Heartfelt messages really do mean a lot, as these teachers can attest.
  • Find ways to make their jobs easier that day. Administrators and support staff might take over classrooms for an hour, giving teachers a few much-needed minutes to catch up.
  • Ask local businesses to join in. Encourage them to offer teacher discounts or freebies on October 5, or to contribute treats or beverages for the teacher’s lounge that day.
  • Fulfill their wishes. Have teachers create Amazon Wish Lists or DonorsChoose campaigns , or conduct surveys to find out what they need for their classrooms. Engage the community in helping to make these wishes a reality.
  • Give them a token of appreciation. Truly thoughtful teacher gifts are always appreciated. Get lots of ideas here.
  • Buy them lunch—and give them time to actually eat it. Provide a delicious meal (remember to accommodate dietary restrictions), and ensure they get the chance to enjoy it. Consider asking parents to step in and cover extra-long lunches that day.

World Teachers Day: Ways to Support Teachers on the Wider Stage

  • Amplify their voices. Use school social media channels to share articles about World Teachers Day and the 2023 theme. Post follow-up articles about teacher shortages to start community conversation, and share thought-provoking quotes from local teachers and those around the world (see below).
  • Hold a community town hall. Invite parents and other community members to a constructive dialogue about ways to tackle your school’s major teacher issues.
  • Fight for teachers. Mount a letter-writing campaign to local or state government regarding teacher issues. Get students and parents involved, and push for real, meaningful change.
  • Listen to teachers. School administration can use World Teachers Day as a chance to sincerely solicit teacher thoughts and opinions. Welcome their feedback, and look for concrete changes your school can make to support teacher efforts.
  • Participate in planned activities. Bookmark UNESCO’s World Teachers Day page to find out what they have planned for October 5, 2023.

Essay on teachers day 19 Models

Last updated Friday , 15-03-2024 on 11:25 am

Essay on teachers day, Writing an essay on Teacher’s Day is the least we can do for the teacher in order to express in this article our gratitude and thanks to the teacher. Teacher’s Day is a real opportunity to show respect and appreciation for the teacher.

The manifestations of the celebration of Teacher’s Day differ from one country to another, but all ideas share a great thanks to teachers, and recognition of their thanks to both students and society.

Therefore, we will present several models for writing a short essay or a paragraph on Teacher’s Day, or writing a long article or speech of thanks to be delivered in celebration of Teacher’s Day.

Essay on teachers day

Given the importance of the teacher and his great role in the education and upbringing of generations, the world has dedicated a day to celebrate the teacher. That day is October 5 of each year. Since 1994 AD, the world has celebrated Teacher’s Day on October 5 of each year.

More than 100 countries celebrate this day, noting that the date of the day that some countries celebrate may differ from that date. For example, Australia celebrates Teacher’s Day on the last Friday of October, while India celebrates Teacher’s Day on September 5.

Despite the different date of the teacher’s celebration day, everyone has the same goal, which is honoring the teacher and expressing thanks and gratitude to him, in addition to focusing on teachers’ issues and how to solve them.

The purpose of celebrating Teacher’s Day

The purpose of dedicating a World Teachers’ Day is divided into:

  • Appreciating teachers and thanking them for their great efforts in the progress of the country, through the education, guidance and counseling they provide to their students.
  • Providing the opportunity to shed light on the issues of teachers and education, with the aim of finding real solutions that make the teacher give his best to his community.
  • Social awareness of the role of the teacher, and his great favor in preparing the generations that will be the reason for the progress and prosperity of society.
  • Motivating teachers to make greater efforts in the education and upbringing of young people, by honoring outstanding teachers and showing their work in order to be role models for others.

History of World Teachers’ Day

In 1966, UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Educational and Cultural Organization) signed with the International Labor Organization a Recommendation on the status of teachers and teaching, standards concerning policy for the employment of teachers and education personnel, teacher training and continuing education for teachers.

In 1994, October 5 was set to be Teacher’s Day and to commemorate the recommendation signed by UNESCO with the International Labor Organization. But the date of Teacher’s Day may differ from one country to another, depending on the dates of study there.

The role of the teacher for both the student and society

There is no doubt that the teacher bears a great responsibility for the progress of his society, as he is primarily responsible for preparing  and educating young people, in addition to providing them with skills and experiences that help them in their lives in general.

The teacher has credit for all the successful people in the country. No matter how successful a person is and has a place in society, his teacher has merit in that, as he is the one who taught him the basics of life, facilitated the path of science for him, and helped him to learn.

The role of the teacher is great in all cases, but his role becomes more and more important in the crises experienced by the society, where the teacher at that time is a leader and a guide, who can direct his students to the right path to achieve the goals of the nation.

Undoubtedly, the influence of the teacher does not stop with his students only, because each student will transfer what he has learned of values and cultural information to his family, thus spreading knowledge among people and reducing ignorance and backwardness.

How do we celebrate Teacher’s Day?

There is no doubt that the celebration of Teacher’s Day has many manifestations and differs from one country to another.

But they all aim to honor the teacher, and to show feelings of gratitude and appreciation for his continuous effort in teaching his students, providing them with skills and experiences, and raising them on good morals and patriotism.

In some countries, Teacher’s Day is an official holiday, and television programs are presented that deal with the virtue of the teacher and his great role in preparing future generations, in addition to hosting and honoring distinguished teachers, and shedding light on their work in order to be role models for others.

Among the manifestations of the celebration of Teacher’s Day are the following:

  • Organizing a party at the school or university, and the students organize the party program, provided that there are words of thanks to the teachers delivered by the students, such as poetry or phrases of praise and other expressions that express respect and appreciation for teachers and recognition of their great role in spreading science and culture in society.
  • The students were keen to present some gifts to their teachers. These gifts do not have to be expensive, but they should be gifts of gratitude and thanks.
  • We can mention the names of the teachers who stood by us in difficult times, and how they were credited with getting us through these problems. This is in recognition of their grace and that they love us as their children.
  • The various media should be interested in highlighting the role of the teacher in the education and upbringing of young people, and in contributing to the development and progress of society.
  • Teacher’s Day should be an opportunity to discuss the issues of teachers in terms of their salaries and employment, and any problems they face should be resolved so that they do their best to students and thus benefit the community as a whole.

At the end of an essay on Teacher’s Day, we should all realize the great role that the teacher plays in  educating students and imparting them with good values and morals.

There is no doubt that the teacher has a great role in guiding students to everything that benefits them and the country.

The teacher is a leader who can change the behavior of his students for the better, and the teacher is a role model, and therefore teachers must be chosen with precision, because teachers are responsible for preparing successful generations of young people who can advance their country and work on its progress and advancement, and defend it with their lives against its enemies.

Paragraph on teachers day in English

In the first week of school (5 October), we held a party to honor the teachers in our school. We have prepared words that express our appreciation and respect for teachers.

The ceremony was attended by old students, who are now successful people working in different fields, including engineers, doctors and officers, who attended because they still remember the virtues of his teachers, and they came to the party to thank the teachers and tell them that the prestigious social positions they have reached are thanks to their teachers.

I wrote some verses of poetry expressing my love and respect for my teachers. The teachers were very happy listening to the words of thanks from their students. My colleagues presented a play that deals with the ways the teacher deals with the students.

We also gave some gifts to our teachers and wished them continued health and a happy long life.

Teachers day essay in English

The teacher has a great role in the progress of the country, and the dissemination of culture and good morals among the citizens.

Therefore, it was important to dedicate a day to celebrate the teacher, and to remind ourselves of his thanks to his students and to society as well.

There is no doubt that each of us is fully aware of the role of the teacher in his life. Since childhood, teachers make every effort to teach us to read and write, then modify our behavior and gain us a lot of knowledge and information.

Every teacher who taught me during my school years has added something useful to me, some of them taught me good behavior and some taught me how to think logically, and some of them made me know the importance of planning for my future.

I am a good citizen essay

I consider myself a good citizen, because my family taught me from my childhood to preserve public property. When I used to go with my family to the public garden, my mother used to ask us not to pick roses and not climb trees, and to keep the garden clean by throwing garbage in the designated bin.

Then when I joined school, my mother asked me to keep my school clean, just as I keep my house clean. She also asked me to respect the school’s rules in terms of appointments, uniform, and dealing with other students, in addition to respecting teachers and all school staff.

My mother also asked me to work hard in my studies, and she told me that you study in order to benefit your country, and this goal you must remember throughout the years of your studies.

Indeed, I carried out my mother’s directives until I became a good citizen, and I am appreciated and respected by everyone.

Happy teachers day essay in english

Yesterday my school celebrated Teacher’s Day. We had a nice party. The party was attended by all the teachers, the principal of the school and some parents.

We presented many shows at the party, I said words of thanks and appreciation to our teachers, and some others presented a poem praising the teacher.

We also presented a humorous play, where some students imitated the role of teachers and others imitated the role of students, and we laughed a lot because the students imitated the teachers perfectly, they were wearing clothes similar to the teachers’ clothes and speaking in the same way they spoke, which made all the teachers laugh. We also gave them beautiful gifts that show our respect for them and thank them.

The teacher’s day is to honor and appreciate teachers for their dedication and hard work. Because teachers play a great role in everyone’s life. From teaching science and languages to giving life-long lessons, teachers help us build ourselves in every field of life. Therefore, they deserve to be honored. So, we should at least dedicate a day to thank them for everything that they do for us. With that being said, in the article below, we have written a teacher’s day essay and we have listed some best teacher’s day quotes for you to add icing on top of the cake.

Teacher’s Day

Teacher’s day is a very special occasion for students, teachers, and everyone in general. Every year students celebrate teacher’s day on the 5th of September to honor teachers and pay tribute to their dedication and hard work. In India, 5th September is celebrated as teacher’s day as a reminder of one of the greatest teachers, in Indian history, Dr. Servepalli Radhakrishnan’s birth. Dr. Radhakrishnan was also the second president of India besides being a great mentor. On this special occasion, students present their best wishes and respect to their teachers. They also give cards, flowers, gifts, and write a teacher’s day essay for their favorite teacher to express their love. Among all, writing a special teacher’s day essay for their favorite teacher is most appreciable.

Moreover, on this day, students organize teacher’s day events that include inspirational acts, singing competitions, speeches, and debates to make their teachers feel proud and honored. Students also dress up as teachers, on this special day, and perform.

It is indeed true that there is no other profession as honorable as the profession of teaching. And it is the most respectable profession in the world. September 5 was dedicated to the teaching profession by celebrating this day as Teachers’ Day across India. It is celebrated annually to commemorate the birthday of one of the greatest teachers in Indian history and former President of India, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, as well as to honor teachers. India’s former president’s birthday was dedicated to highlighting the nobility of the teaching profession and the contributions of our teachers to society and the development of the country.

In the life of a student, a teacher reserves a place above the parents. Parents give birth to and care for their children while teachers create their future. Only teachers make children successful in their lives. A good teacher can lead children to limitless heights of success in life. Besides, teaching is a prophetic profession. Because teachers disperse knowledge which is the most precious thing ever found. Knowledge shows us the right path and enables us to distinguish right from wrong. Moreover, teachers are a source of inspiration and guidance for students. It is rightly said that “The mediocre master tells, the good master explains, the superior master demonstrates and the great master inspires”. Masters inspire students with diligence, hard work, and dedication.

Moreover, there is no doubt that teachers are like real potters who not only shape our lives but also allow us to light ourselves like a lamp forever after dispelling darkness from all over the world. So that our nation can be illuminated with many luminous lamps. Therefore, we pay homage and respect to all teachers in the country on this honorable day. However, we cannot give our teachers anything in return for their excellent work; we must always respect them and be grateful for their hard work and dedication. Besides, we must make a commitment to respect and wholeheartedly honor our teachers in our daily lives. Because without a good teacher we are all incomplete in this world.

In conclusion, we need to realize the need and importance of teachers in our lives and celebrate Teachers’ Day every year to honor them for their great work. Teachers are more than our parents who shape our minds for success in every field of life. Besides, they only become happy and successful in life if their dedicated students go ahead and spread the name of teachers all over the world through our activities and by reflecting back on all the lessons that we learned from our teachers. Thus, we should follow all the good lessons in our life taught by our teachers.

Preparation

Teachers have a very special and important job because they play a big part in helping children learn, grow and do well in life. On World Teachers' Day, on 5 October every year, we say thanks to teachers for all the hard work they do.

Teachers around the world

Do you know how many teachers there are around the world? More than 90 million! That's a lot of teachers helping children learn.

Education is a human right, and every child should have free education, but unfortunately millions of children in the world are not in school. Most of those children live in places where life is difficult – some live in poor areas or far away from cities and towns, or for some there is war in their countries.

One of the reasons that so many children can't go to school is that there aren't enough teachers worldwide. To make sure every child can go to school by 2030, we'll need an extra 69 million teachers in the world. Would you like to be a teacher one day?

How to become a teacher

To be a teacher, you need to study hard and learn many things. Teachers go to college or university and do special training. They learn about different subjects and how to teach them to students.

Teachers have to listen to their students and understand how they feel, so they need to be patient and kind. Many teachers are very creative and make learning fun for their students. If you enjoy helping people learn, teaching might be a great job for you in the future!

Say thank you to teachers

Teaching can be a difficult job because teachers must help all their students, and every student has different needs. Often there are a lot of children in a class. Teachers work long hours and have lots of responsibilities. So, take a moment to say thank you to your teachers this World Teachers' Day!

How to celebrate World Teachers' Day

On World Teachers' Day, you could give your teacher a card, some flowers or a small present. You could draw them a picture or write them a letter or a poem. Some schools organise special events, for example where students do things like singing a song or doing a dance for their teachers.

Whatever you do this World Teachers' Day, be sure to tell your teacher how much you admire and respect them. Happy World Teachers' Day!

Who is your favourite teacher? Why do you like them?

Teachers’ day is celebrated in India on 5th September every year. It is celebrated on the auspicious occasion of the birthday of India’s first vice-president and second president, Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. Dr S. Radhakrishnan loved teaching and was a great teacher. During his tenure as the president, one of his students asked for his permission to celebrate his birthday on a national level.

Dr Radhakrishnan suggested that instead of his birthday, he would be happier if 5th September could be celebrated as Teachers’ day to pay respect to teachers all over the country. Since then, Teachers’ day has been celebrated every year by students to express their love and gratitude for their teachers. On this day, students decorate their classrooms, organise games and performances for their teachers and give them gifts and tokens of gratitude.

Short Essay on Teachers’ Day in 200 Words

In India, teachers’ day is celebrated every year on the 5th of September to mark the birth anniversary of India’s first vice-president and second president, Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. Dr S. Radhakrishnan was an Indian philosopher, teacher and statesman who served as India’s first vice-president from 1952 to 1962.

He also held office as the second president of India from 1962 to 1967. During his tenure as the president, one of his students asked for his permission to celebrate his birthday on a national level. Dr Radhakrishnan suggested that instead of celebrating his birthday, he would be happier if the 5th of September could be celebrated as Teachers’ day to pay respect to teachers all over the country.

Since then, teachers’ day has been celebrated every year by students all over the nation, to express their love and gratitude for their dear teachers. If children are the future of a country, teachers are the people who shape the future of the country as they guide the children to become better human beings.

On teachers’ day, students decorate their classrooms, organise games, singing and dance performances for their teachers and give them gifts as tokens of gratitude. It is a fun-filled day for all teachers and students.

Short Essay on Teachers’ Day in 400 Words

Teachers’ day, as the name suggests, is a day to celebrate the teachers in our life and shower them with love and gratitude for all that they have done and still do for us.

During his tenure as the president, one of his students and friends asked for his permission to celebrate his birthday on a national level.

Our parents who taught us how to eat, talk, walk and run, our kindergarten teachers who helped us grasp the first alphabets of our life, our school teachers and college professors as well as our dance, drawing, singing mentors – every single one of them have played a role in shaping our lives and making us better and stronger human beings. All our teachers deserve to be shown respect, love and gratitude. Teachers’ day gives us the opportunity to do the same.

On teachers’ day, students decorate their classrooms, organise games, singing and dance performances for their teachers and give them gifts as tokens of gratitude. They also visit their tuition and coaching centres to celebrate the day with their tutors and mentors.

The students who have already passed out from schools and colleges, make it a point to visit their old teachers and bring them sweets and gifts. In many schools and colleges, senior students dress up as their teachers, take classes for junior students and let the teachers rest and enjoy the day. They also arrange delicious food and treats for the teachers. It is a fun-filled day for all teachers and students.

In this lesson today, I have discussed the topic through three individual sets of essays coving different word limits. Besides, I have adopted a very simplistic approach to writing these essays for a better understanding of all kinds of students. But if you still have any doubts regarding this session, mention that in the comment section below. I will try my best to resolve them as soon as possible. Teach English in Moscow, Russia

The heart of Russia, Moscow , stands as a proud emblem of the country's rich history and its ambitious stride towards the future. Stretching its vast expanse across the banks of the Moskva River, the city boasts iconic landmarks like the Kremlin, St. Basil’s Cathedral, and the Bolshoi Theatre, all of which narrate tales of Russia’s tsarist past, Soviet era, and its contemporary significance. But beyond the historical and political importance, Moscow is a vibrant metropolis, bustling with modernity while still deeply rooted in its traditions. As a juxtaposition of the old and new, it offers a unique setting for English teachers looking to immerse themselves in a culture that's both familiar in its urban dynamics and intriguingly foreign in its customs and nuances.

Reasons to Teach English in Moscow

There's a notable presence of international schools, catering primarily to expatriates and the elite class, which offers International Baccalaureate or British curricula. Additionally, language centers scattered across the city cater to various age groups and professions. Here, the focus might range from general English to more specialized courses like Business English. There's also a growing trend of private tutoring, where teachers offer personalized lessons to students, either one-on-one or in small groups.

TEFL/TESOL/CELTA Certification : Most employers prefer candidates with a teaching certification, with a minimum of 120 hours of training.

Native English Speaker : Preference is often given to teachers from native English-speaking countries. However, non-native speakers with strong proficiency and credentials can also find opportunities.

Experience : Previous teaching experience, while not always mandatory, can significantly boost job prospects, especially in more esteemed institutions.

Background Check : A clean criminal record is essential, and a background check is standard procedure for most teaching positions.

Understanding of Russian Culture : While not a formal requirement, having an appreciation and understanding of Russian culture can be beneficial, both in the classroom and in day-to-day life.

Living in Moscow presents a unique experience that's both challenging and rewarding. The city’s juxtaposition of centuries-old architecture with contemporary skyscrapers is a testament to its rich history and its eyes set firmly on the future.

1. Cultural and Historical Hub: Moscow is home to some of the world's most iconic landmarks, including the Kremlin, Red Square, and the Bolshoi Theatre. The city's museums, like the State Historical Museum and the Pushkin Museum, offer deep dives into Russia's intricate history and art.

2. Cost of Living: While salaries for English teachers are competitive, Moscow is one of the more expensive cities in Russia. Rent, dining out, and entertainment can be pricey, especially in the city center. However, with smart budgeting and by leveraging local markets and public transportation, it's manageable.

3. Transportation: Moscow boasts one of the world's most extensive metro systems. Not only is it efficient and affordable, but its stations are also often hailed as architectural masterpieces, adorned with mosaics, chandeliers, and sculptures. Buses and trams supplement the metro, making it easy to navigate the city.

4. Climate: Moscow experiences a continental climate, with cold winters where temperatures can drop below -20°C and warm summers that can reach up to 30°C. Snowfall during winters transforms the city into a winter wonderland, especially around the New Year when it's festively decorated.

5. Language: While Russian is the predominant language, younger generations and professionals often have a basic understanding of English. Still, learning basic Russian phrases can immensely help in daily life and is appreciated by locals.

6. Local Cuisine: Moscow offers a diverse culinary scene. Apart from international cuisines, traditional Russian dishes like borscht, pelmeni, and blinis are must-tries. The city also has a growing café culture, perfect for those who love their coffee.

7. Social Scene: The city is bustling with theaters, clubs, bars, and live music venues. Whether you're into classical performances at the Bolshoi or contemporary gigs at a local club, Moscow has something for every taste.

8. Safety: Like any major city, it's essential to be cautious, especially during the night or in less populated areas. However, Moscow generally has a low crime rate, especially concerning violent crimes against foreigners.

Anele from South Africa:

"I initially came to Moscow for a short stint, but the city's energy drew me in. Teaching here is different from back home. Siobhan from Ireland:

"I've taught in various countries, but Moscow stands out. The blend of history, culture, and the modern hustle is unique. The students here are disciplined and eager to grasp the nuances of the English language. On a personal note, the ballet performances at the Bolshoi are something I'll cherish forever."
