A city fair is usually held at any specific date throughout the year. In India, many old fairs are held for years, around the same period. Trade fairs are for selling unique artifacts, crafts, jewelry, furniture, etc. It is also for commercial activities with a limited presence of fun and entertainment activities. A festive fair, on the other hand, is held during a festival season.

For example, a Durga puja fair in a city is held during the Durga puja festival and Pongal fair in southern India is held during the Pongal festival. During Holi also many fairs occur in different parts of the country.

Another fair which occurs in the city is Book Fair. A group of publishers and dealers organize Book Fair in order to promote books and improving sales. A book fair displays books belonging to various disciplines, ranging from history to autobiographies, storybooks, science books, books on literature, fictional books, encyclopedias, books on general knowledge, etc.

A city fair is usually held in an open field inside the city. The field for the fair could be small or big, depending on its availability or on the size of the fair. The most significant sign of a city fair is the noise that is heard on the loudspeakers.

Someone outside the fair hears different commercial and entertainment activities through loudspeakers. Vendors selling their products, a magician calling eager children, call for audiences to witness a just to begin stunt performance and other activities could be heard simultaneously.

Village Fair

A village fair is also held during festivals, like Dussehra and Diwali . It could also be held annually during the celebration to a local deity or religious beliefs of the people. A village fair is usually smaller than a city fair in appearance as well as the activities. Indian local village fair is marked by relatively small shops, selling mostly toys and sweets.

Many hawkers selling small toys on hand-held wooden frames could be seen roaming in the fair. Flutes, whistles, and a variety of lightweight toys are seen in a village fair, which attracts children a lot. The Concept of Fair

Even though the world of entertainment and recreation has changed to a greater extent, and it kept on changing at a greater speed, “Fair” is still, and will always be close to our hearts. Because it is not just a place of recreation and entertainment, rather it is a traditional event that takes us to the roots of our culture in a fun and loving manner. You may be in any part of the world, but once in a year, you will be hyped about the word ‘fair’. Fair is a place where you can find all sorts of entertainment, food as well as business talk. In a fair, the mass of people gathers together, some for entertainment while some for business talk. Below is a presentation of both long and short-type essays where we will relive the moments of fair.

Essay on Fair in English

Writing an Essay on the fair is just as fun as attending the fair because it takes you on a walk-in memory lane so that you can write about it from your experience. But it is also a good idea to have some guidance while writing the essay in English, and hence Vedantu provides that Guidance to all the students for completely free.

Some information about the Fair

Fair can be considered as one of the oldest recreation activities, at least in India, in which hundreds of people gather at a time. We can trace the beginnings of the fair in 1000 AD. And the reason behind it was to boost the businesses and hence in return, it helps in boosting the overall economic condition of the country. Interestingly, the same thing can still be seen in modern times in events like that of “Book-Fairs” where the writers and readers all come together.

In modern times the fairs have taken a place of an annual break, where everyone from the city can go for recreation, and to be relaxed. Fairs are generally set for a few days or a week. More often than not, the supply of the seller’s stock comes directly from the manufacturer, and hence the things can be brought at the fair at a relatively low price. In this way both the seller and the buyer get benefits.

Things that Happen at Fair

It is important for the students to learn about the things that happen at the fair in order to write an essay on it. The first thing, one may notice in the fair is the rides, there are many rides at the fair, such as Giant wheels that takes the riders to the sky, merry go round horse ride which can be considered as an unofficial trademark of Indian Fair, stalls of Magic Tricks, many toy shops, interestingly the toys that are available in these shops are, for the most part, not available in the shops of the city. Along with these rides the store of many fun activities, such as Balloon shooting can be found in the Fair as well. Also, if you ever had visited the fair, you must refresh your memory for writing the essay on fair.

While writing about the Fair these are the things that you must take into consideration. An important thing is that we eat lots of different things at Fair, and many of them are either packet food or the food that comes in the plastic, and plastic is not good for the environment, hence you must try to avoid it.

Essay on Fair for Students

‘Fair’ this particular word takes us into an imaginary world of a big ground full of different kinds of people and different kinds of joy rides. On those rides, where people sit on them screaming with joy and amusement. We also imagine many different types of stalls which are selling dazzling earrings, fancy clothes, tasty food and even selling toys for the kids. In a coinage, fairs are a representation of these different types of people who come to sell and buy and also have fun at a single place. After all, a fair is a place where there is no boundary set for people or for fun.  Also, in another sense, we can perceive fairness as an exchange of the creativity and productivity of different cultures around the globe.

The culture of fair started somewhere between the early 1000s or 1200s. Fairs actually started as an economic activity different from the redundant business processes and activities of the year. Now the fairs are viewed as an annual break to the year when everyone in the city or town is fed up with their routines throughout the year, fair then serves as a refreshment aided with knowledge, creativity, and business. Fair is set for a multiday, this proves to be a huge benefit for all the buyers and for all the sellers, even products are supplied from the foreign merchants.

Fairs in India

The oldest fair in the history of our country, India is the ‘Kumbh Mela’ which is almost more than 2000 years old. When the planet Jupiter, and the sun, and the moon aligns, those dates are considered appropriate for this Kumbh Mela to take place. Kumbh Mela takes place every after 3 years. The Kumbh Mela in 2013 made a world-record gathering of 10 crore people. If someone is looking for beautiful and rich fabrics, shining earrings, and a variety of other things, then he must go to Pushkar Mela in Rajasthan.

Descriptive Essay About the Fair

Once in the spring season I went to a fair in my village, the fair was set up in honor of a local deity worshipped here. I wish my uncle and aunt visited the fair. As we entered the fair, I felt a different sense of enjoyment in the air, the fair was lit with a lot of hubbubs. We passed the stalls till we came to my favorite stall wherein large kadhai jalebis were being fried, the smell of the sweet made my taste buds active to savor the same. We had jalebis and kachori in the stall and went further to explore the fair. I played a shooting game where I won a beautiful flower vase. Nearby, was a shop selling big and small earrings, my aunt got a pair, the earrings had mirrors shining on them, which dazzled my sight. Walking a distance I saw a big merry-go-round where children rode the ride merrily. I stood there and watch them enjoy wondering why I grew up for now I could never sit on that merry-go-round. Instead, now I can ride the camel my uncle assured me. I enjoyed the ride on the hunch of the camel.

All was a lovely time spent well in that fair. I will carry this memory to my heart. As I proceeded towards home, I decided to share, my experience in my diary so that I can always relive the moment.

Fair, be it a city fair or a village fair, provides a fun activity to the children, as well as serves as a refreshment for the young and elderly. No doubt the fair is a fun event, but this is also a source of livelihood for the vendors who depend on this event. Many small vendors, also the hawkers depend on these fairs for their businesses. Fairs provide a platform for them to gain customers. They serve as a place for having quality time with family and friends. Parents also ensure that safety precautions are required to be properly taken before sending their children to the rides or to the ferry wheels.

It is a customary event in rural life, and often a place to unwind for those living in the villages. Village fairs, usually held annually, are held in the marketplace or in an open space. What is the purpose of a village fair? Here, villagers can buy toys, wooden utensils, clay pots, baskets, cosmetics, and more. These local fairs offer some unique attractions. A village fair is a time of amusement for the villagers and a time away to unwind from their monotonous routine. A village fair helps small-scale trade flare up their business, encourages the local industry and agriculture to grow more. 500 Words Essay on a Village Fair

Festivals and fairs abound throughout India. A village fair is a typical celebration of village life. Rural fairs still have historical value, despite the fact that they have steadily become less common owing to the influence of contemporary culture and technology.

Village fairs come as a good break to the monotonous routines of the villagers, who are often excited about them. Children enjoy sweets, and buy toys and balloons at these fairs. Both children and adults participate in games. Often, village fairs have swings and other rides that can be enjoyed by everyone alike. Jugglers perform feats and entertain audiences. A village fair also features items from cottage industries, wooden furniture, agricultural implements, etc., which greatly appeals to adults.

How is a Village Fair?

The entire fair is filled with the chatter of rural people discussing news and opinions about their village. It serves as a gathering place for people of neighbouring villages as well. Everyone is dressed to the nines in their finest attire. Women wear dazzling "dupattas" with sequin or zari work, colourful matching blouses, swirling long skirts, silver anklets that jingle on their feet, and silver bangles. In addition to the children being dressed in their brightest attire, the males also wear colourful shirts and dhotis.

Another prime attraction of a fun fair is different rides and Ferry Wheels. Miniature trains, vehicles, and horses make up the majority of the rides at a fair that are intended for children. The rides are usually painted with bright colours and adorned with lights of different colours to enhance their appearance at night. Apart from the fun activities, a fun fair has various food stalls for the children and their elder companions.

The fair's area is decorated by vibrant tents housing a variety of entertaining events, including magic shows, circus acts, stunts, and movies, among others. There are open booths for games like Throw the Ring, Air Gun Shooting, and dart shooting. Anyone who throws a ring precisely over a far-off item in such a manner that the object lands inside the ring has a chance to win a reward in the game "Throw the Ring." The winner receives the item as their reward.

Similarities Between City and Village Fairs

A village fair is similar to the fairs held in our cities, with the exception that the goods sold are tailored to the requirements and preferences of the villagers. There are stalls with a variety of goods for sale. Food stands are often the busiest, both in city and village fairs. Vendors sell various household items like "matkas," pots and pans, tiny colourful boxes for holding trinkets or medicines, and so on. Other items include clay or aluminium kitchenware. Women can often be seen bargaining and buying things that catch their attention.

My Visit to a Village Fair

Last year, I went to the Baisakhi fair in my native village. Many people from nearby villages attended the fair. Everyone appeared to be in a festive mood. Their laughter had no bounds and there was a lot that intrigued and attracted me. The locals were dressed in beautiful attire. The kids were ecstatic in every way. All around, people were laughing. The villagers sang traditional songs. I had a good time while dancing to the sound of drums.

There was a lot of excitement and commotion. The marketplace was crammed. Jugglers and rope dancers were present. They entertained the locals by performing feats and tricks. I loved the swings and my favourite were the merry-go-rounds. The fair was a medley of sounds and sights. I came across dance performances and also a wrestling match and a juggler's show. In the evening, there were races and matches. Prizes were awarded to the winners. At nightfall, the crowds began to disperse with armfuls of sweets and toys. I had a great time.

Fairs are a wonderful source of excitement and entertainment for people of all ages. They offer a plethora of activities and attractions that capture one's attention and leave a lasting impression. I had the opportunity to visit a fair recently, and it turned out to be a memorable experience that I will cherish forever.

It was a bright sunny day when my family and I decided to visit the much-awaited fair held annually in our city. Being in class 10, I looked forward to this outing as a break from my academic routine and a chance to unwind and have fun. The fair was set up on the outskirts of the city, in a sprawling ground surrounded by lush greenery. The anticipation of what awaited me there filled me with an exhilarating sense of excitement.

As we reached the fairgrounds, we were greeted by a vibrant atmosphere filled with the sounds of laughter, music, and the aroma of delicious food. The fairground bustled with activity as people from all walks of life gathered to enjoy the festivities. The sight of colorful stalls, rides, and games immediately caught my attention, and I couldn't wait to explore every nook and cranny of the fair.

We started our fair adventure by visiting the food stalls, which were a treat for the taste buds. The aroma of freshly roasted corn, piping hot samosas, and sugary cotton candy wafted through the air. It was impossible to resist indulging in these delectable treats. We gorged on mouth-watering street food and washed it down with chilled lemonade, which provided much-needed relief in the scorching heat. The variety of cuisines available represented the diverse cultures and traditions of our country, further adding to the charm of the fair.

After satisfying our hunger pangs, we proceeded towards the amusement rides that dotted the fairgrounds. The sight of the Ferris wheel towering above everything was both thrilling and intimidating. As I boarded one of the gondolas and ascended to the top, I was treated to a breathtaking aerial view of the fair. The panoramic view of the bustling crowd and the vibrant colors of the fair stalls against the backdrop of the clear blue sky was an awe-inspiring sight. It made me appreciate the beauty of my surroundings and the joy that fairs bring to people's lives.

The joyrides were another attraction that drew a large crowd. The screams and laughter of people as they whizzed through the air on roller coasters or swung on giant swings created an infectious atmosphere of thrill and excitement. My heart raced as I joined the queue for the roller coaster, not knowing what to expect but ready to embrace the adrenaline rush. As the ride took off, I experienced a mix of fear and exhilaration. The wind rushing through my hair and the feeling of weightlessness left me breathless but craving for more. It was an exhilarating experience that left me with a newfound appreciation for the thrills of amusement rides.

Apart from the rides and food stalls, the fair offered a wide range of entertainment options. There were live performances by local artists, showcasing their talents in music, dance, and drama. The vibrant music and energetic dance moves filled the air with infectious energy, making it impossible to resist tapping my feet along with the beats. There were also magic shows, acrobatic performances, and puppet shows that left the audience spellbound. Each performance transported us to a different world, allowing us to forget our worries and immerse ourselves in the magic of the fair.

One of the most exciting aspects of the fair was the presence of various shopping stalls. These stalls showcased a wide array of products ranging from handicrafts , clothing, accessories, and trinkets. I spent a considerable amount of time exploring these stalls, marveling at the craftsmanship and the variety of goods on offer. The vibrant colors, intricate designs, and unique artifacts displayed at these stalls tempted me to buy something as a memento of my fair experience. I finally settled on a beautifully crafted handbag, which I knew would serve as a cherished reminder of the fair and its memories.

As the day drew to a close, we realized that our visit to the fair had come to an end. It was time to bid farewell to the bright lights, the merry-go-rounds, and the laughter that filled the air. We left the fairgrounds with heavy hearts but with a treasure trove of memories that would stay with us forever. The fair had not only provided us with a day of excitement and entertainment but had also given us an opportunity to bond as a family and create memories that would be etched in our hearts forever.

A huge presence of entertainment activities like magic shows, stunt performances, games of luck and skills, shooting games, amusement rides etc, resembles a fun fair in progress.

A fun fair could be small or big depending on the location and the size of visitors it serves. It could also be a travelling fun fare moving from one location to the other or could be held at a fixed location. In both the cases it provides loads of fun activities for the children as well as the young and elderly.

The area of the fair could be seen marked with colorful tents meant for various fun activities like Magic Shows, Circus, Stunts and movies etc. Besides, there are also open stalls for activities like Air Gun Shooting, Dart Shooting or Throw the Ring game etc. Throw the Ring game gives a chance to win a prize for anyone who throws a ring exactly over a distant object in such a way that the object gets placed inside the ring. The person, who wins, is given the object as the prize.

Another main attraction of a fun fair in India is stunt performances; one of the most famous is “Well of Death”. It is mainly performed on modified bikes or cars inside a large well made of wood and steel. Audiences witness the stunt standing on a platform, which runs through the upper circumference of the well. The stuntmen go high speed on bikes and car inside the well defying the laws of gravity in front of spell bound audiences.

Another prime attraction of a fun fair is different rides and Ferry Wheels. Rides in a fun fair are usually meant for the children and consists of miniature trains, cars and horses. There are various small and large horizontally rotating wheels with miniature cars, bikes or horses mounted above them for the children to be seated. Ferry wheels of different sizes, capacity and speed could be seen in operation and screams of children and elders enjoying it could also be heard. There are also small juvenile rides with smaller platforms, meant especially for the small children.

The rides are usually painted with bright colors and are adorned with lights of different colors to enhance their appearance at night. Apart from the fun activities, a fun fair has various food stalls for the children and their elder companions. Stalls selling quick take away foods, ice creams, juices, desserts could be seen spanned all over the place. The fragrance of sweet and local delicacies as well as other desserts and food items dominate the air. People could be seen with children, eating their favorite ice creams and desserts. Some fun fairs may also have activities like circus performances or ghost rides.

A fun fair provides a great fun activity to the children, young as well as the elderly. Apart from being a fun centered event, it is also a source of livelihood for vendors who depend on it. Many small vendors and hawkers depend on the fun fairs for their businesses. Fun fairs provide a quality of fun time with family and friends. Parents should also ensure that all safety precautions are properly taken before sending children to rides or ferry wheels.

Every year a big fair is held near our village. it is held in the memory of some saint. It comes off on the first Thursday of Harh (Punjabi month name). It is attended by thousands of people from far and near. Last year I went to see it. When I reached the fair, it was in full swing. there was a great rush of people all around. A large number of men, women and children had come from far and near to attend the fair.

There were two long rows of temporary shops in the open ground. They displayed a variety of sweets, fruit, toys and fancy articles. The stalls of confectioners were crowded with customers. There were many hawkers too. A stream of men, women and children passed through this temporary Bazar.

There was great noise everywhere. Popular folk songs were being played on loudspeakers wherever I went, I heard the loud beating of drums and the shrill music of flutes. I heard the blowing of whistles and the hoarse cries of hawkers. There were shouts of people who had come to attend the fair. It was a strange experience to hear the noise. The noise was there. Everywhere inside shops, stalls, shrine and out on roads, open spaces and grounds noise dominated.

The people were making purchases and enjoying themselves. There were policemen and scouts. They have come to maintain order. There were various kinds of amusements. In one corner of the ground were merry go rounds. Nearby were the tumbling boxes. A cinema show was being displayed in a big tent. A juggler was amusing the villagers with his feats. He was jumping over ropes. Then I saw acrobats performing wonderful tricks to the accompaniment of drums. At one corner a magician was showing his tricks. There was a travelling circus too. As I went forward, I saw a snake charmer. There was a crowd of villagers around him.

In the evening I took my way home. One the way I saw many queues of happy villagers. They were laden with the purchases, wending their steps homewards.

[ 1. Occasion and place; 2. Purpose; 3. Description—shops, crowds, etc; 4. Amusements; 5. Impressions.]

It was the last day of Poush. The harvesting was over, the granaries were full. Huge fields greet our eyes. There the fair was organized.

A village fair needs no advertisement. Everyone knows when and where it will be held. The purpose is to buy and sell things and to celebrate a holiday with joy. The artisans, the weavers, the farmers would come with their goods. They would display their skill and craftsmanship.

Preparations start a month before the festival. The ground is cleared. Bamboo posts with the thatched roofs are put up in rows. Each stall is nicely decorated. There is one row of agricultural goods and tools; in another row, agricultural and horticultural products, vegetables, and flower plants and saplings are on display.

A portion of the field is set aside for recreation. There are merry-go-rounds. In a huge pandal, cinema films, theatres, magic shows, and folk songs follow one after another, night after night.

A fair is held chiefly for trade. The amusements make business pleasant. But it has also an educational side. We learn much from it.

I like to visit such a fair with interest. Fairs are generally held in places of worship or birthplaces of great poets. Poush-Mela of Santiniketan has now an India-wide attraction.

A Visit to a Fair

Essay No. 01

In the first week of February, I visited the famous Suraj Kund Fair in Haryana, which is 30 km from Delhi and is held near the famous tourist spot Baikal Lake.

Every year this 15 days long fair is held in the spacious Suraj Kund ground. The grounds are decorated very neatly. The most important feature of this fair is its pollution free atmosphere, indeed a delight for metro people. This is the one fair in which both the rural and urban people participate with full enthusiasm. Even foreigners from different parts of the world come to take part in the fun.

For the fashion-conscious people, a wide range of brightly colored stalls offer items like handloom products, tapestries, home decor, clothing, etc.

Indian outfits like saree, salwar kameez, and even colorful bangles and bindis are displayed by the villagers who make them.

The laughter of people could be heard in the performance of Indian folk songs with instruments. Even the gypsies dance in full enthusiasm. Also, traditional folk dances from different states could be seen as being performed to entertain the crowd.

In the afternoon when it becomes hot people could be seen heading towards eating joints looking for spicy Indian food and some cold drink to quench their thirst. People who were with children could be seen enjoying rides like the giant wheel, the roller coaster while younger children could be seen enjoying the camel, horse, and elephant rides with innocent smiles on their faces. To entertain the children many puppet shows, magic shows, and monkey shows,s, etc. were also held.

Apart from families, businessmen also came from all over India and abroad to buy samples of handicraft items of different varieties. Some just came to enquire about the prices of goods.

As the evening came to end the weather turned a bit chilly and people were compelled to put on woolens. Eating places were once again seen getting crowded. This time they offered Indian snacks like samosa, pakoras, and Indian sweets like Gulab Jamun, Jalebee along with lassi, tea, and coffee. But the crowd was much less. The children were on the edge of sleepy while the adults relaxed and enjoyed the bonfire.

Finally, the fair that had started in the early morning quieted and waited for the next morning’s activities.

For the people’s convenience, a wide range of brightly colored stalls offer items for sale like handloom products which are very popular among people. Indian outfits, sarees, salwar-kameez, even colorful bangles, and bindis are displayed by the traders.

The laughter of people can be heard along with the folk songs and even the gypsy’s dance with enthusiasm to entertain the crowd.

In the afternoon when it becomes rather warm, people can be seen heading towards eating joints looking for spicy Indian food and some cold drink to quench their thirst. People who are with children can be seen enjoying rides on the backs of camel, horse, and elephant. To further entertain the children’s puppet show, magic shows, bear and monkey shows are also held.

But, as the evening comes to an end the weather turns a bit chilly with cold waves and people are compelled to wear woolen clothes. Eating places are once again crowded. This time they offer Indian snacks like pakoras, samosas, etc., and Indian sweets like Gulab Jamun, Jalebi, along with Lassi, Coffee, and Tea.

But the crowd is less than seen in the morning. The children are sleepy and tired while the adult relaxes and enjoy the bonfire.

Finally, the chaos that started from the early morning quits and waits for another day’s activities.

My Visit To A Book Fair

Last year in December we visited the Kolkata Book Fair. My parents and I had a nice time there. A festive mood was floating in the fair. Hundreds of book stalls stood in rows. Thousands of books were in the show. The stalls were beautifully decorated and lighted. There was a large number of men in a merry mood. They were reading, choosing and buying books. I was busy getting the autographs of great writers. Then my bag became fat with books. But my father rather gave a thin smile. His purse was almost empty.

Visiting a book fair

Visiting a book fair was my dream. I had not visited a book fair in my life. Yesterday my father proposed that we should visit the Howrah book fair in the evening. So we went to the book fair. There were so many stalls full of books. All the stalls are in the queue. We entered every stall and read a few lines. We were trying to understand which books should we buy. Finally, I selected five books from the stalls. My father selected a book on astronomy. We paid the bill at the counter. The seller greeted us with a smile. Finally, we returned to our house. It was my first visit to a book fair. I can’t forget it for my life.

A Visit to a Book Fair Essay 150 words

I have visited a book fair once or twice. But my visit to a book fair last Friday was different from the previous visits. We were returning from school. One of my friends suggested entering the book fair. There was no entry fee. So we entered the fair. We were going from one kiosk to another and read new books free of cost. We had not planned the visit earlier. So we didn’t have any money with us. Then a shopkeeper asked for a quiz. He promised that if we could answer all his questions. he would gift us three books.

After some self-introduction, he began his quiz. He asked a lot of questions from a General Knowledge book. We answered almost all the questions. The mob was thickening in the fair. So he decided to finish the quiz. He was very happy to meet us. Though we were unable to answer all his questions, he gave us three GK books as gifts. We were happy too. Finally, were returned home with new books in our bags.

Essay on “A visit to a fair or The Baisakhi Fair” Complete Essay for Class 10, Class 12 and Graduation and other classes.

A Visit To A Fair

India is a land of fairs. Almost every district has a fair. Some fo them are religious fairs. Others are commercial fairs. Some of them are both. A visit to fair increases our knowledge. We also have recreation.

On the Kartik Purnima, it was a holiday. I went with some friends to see the Bateshwar Fair. It is very famous and people come to see it from far and wide. We went there in the morning. This fair is famous for cattle – sale. I have heard many times about this fair. It takes place at the bank of river Yamuna.

When we reached the fair, we had to cross bridge over a part of the river. Then we reached the Mela ground. We saw a large number of donkeys, pigs, camels and horses in different parts of the fair ground. The donkeys were holding a braying competition. The pigs were grunting,  the horses were neighing and camels were making a babbling sound. I liked the horse show best the owners of the horses were riding and showing them to the buyers. Some of them were very costly.

There was a great dust. Our clothes and hair became dusty with it. We looked like old men. We reached the shop market. Here the ground was well sprinkled with water. There was no dust at all. At first we took our refreshments in a fine sweet shop. Then we went round . the arrangement of shops was nice. The shops of one kind were at one place in rows. In the cloth market, I looked at attractive sarees and other clothes. We asked the price of many things though we did not want to buy them.

We saw a large number of swings there. There was a great noise. The children  liked them very much. They loved going up and down in them. There was a circus show also. We went in on payment of one rupee each. There were many lions, tigers, elephants and other animals . they showed their amusing tricks. There were theatres and companies  also.

2We took our food in a shop. We had to pay  much, though the food was not lied by us. It was better decorated neat and clean shop compared to others. He took first round. On second round we decided to buy some useful things. We went to see the shops again. This time we bought many things of daily use.

Now the evening was drawing near and we were tried. So we returned home on a tonga. It was really a good fair. We gained a new experience. This fair increased my knowledge. I was happy to see the different tricks shown by trained horses. It became a memory in my mind for future.

A visit to a fair

The Baisakhi Fair

The Baisakhi fair is held every year at a distance of thre miles from my village. Baisakhi makes the New Year’s Day of the Vikram Era. People celebrate it with great enthusiasm. It also marks the beginning of the harvest season. The farmers feel veryhapopy on seeing waving ripe crops in their fields.

Last year, I went to see the Baisakhi fair with a few friends. We got up early in the morning. We got ready to go to the fair. Our way lay through the fields. They were full of ripe crops. As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but yellow grain. In fifteen minutes we reached the place where the fair was to be held.

Stalls had been set up there. The stall owners sold eatables of different varieties. They were having a roaring business, children were crowding in stall selling toys. On one side, merry go round were whiling.

At another place jugglers were showing their feats. Some men bathed in the river. The Mahabir Dal volunteers had made separate arrangements for men and women. Some villagers were singing folk songs. At two places the Bhangra dance was being performed. Some young men were taking part in the kite flying competition. We went round the fair area twice. Then we had a bath in the canal flowing nearby. We then ate fruit and sweets. We also ate pakoras. We met some more friends in the fair.

In the evening we came back home. The atmosphere was full of dust when we returned. We were dead tired. So we had a sound sleep at night.
