WWE Draft 2024 (Night 2) Results

In the opening round of night two of the WWE Draft 2024, GUNTHER and Ludwig Kaiser of Imperium were selected by Monday Night Raw. The red brand also drafted Damage CTRL (IYO SKY, Dakota Kai, and The Kabuki Warriors).

As for Friday Night SmackDown, the blue brand selected Jade Cargill and Kevin Owens. Stephanie McMahon announced the picks for round one.

WWE once again heads overseas this Saturday for Backlash France, the first ever Premium Live Event to be held in France. The action starts at 1 p.m. ET, streaming live exclusively on Peacock .

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes ’ first test after dethroning Roman Reigns at WrestleMania will be none other than “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles , a former two-time WWE Champion in his own right.

Damian Priest , the latest Superstar to capture gold by successfully cashing in his Money in the Bank contract, will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against “Main Event” Jey Uso .

And with the villainous Damage CTRL faction in her rearview mirror, Bayley will turn her attention to defending the WWE Women’s title against Naomi and Tiffany Stratton in a Triple Threat Match.

2024 WWE Backlash predictions, card, matches, PPV preview, expert picks, start time, date, location

The promotion heads to france on saturday for the first ppv event after wrestlemania.

WWE is taking Backlash to Lyon, France this Saturday. The card currently features only five matches, but four of those matches are championship bouts, with the other featuring some of the biggest stars in WWE.

In the main event, Cody Rhodes will make the first televised defense of the undisputed WWE championship he won from Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. Standing across from Rhodes will be multi-time former champion AJ Styles. Rhodes and Styles have traveled many of the same roads throughout their careers but have never faced each other in singles or tag competition.

Two other world titles are on the line at Backlash, with Damian Priest defending the world heavyweight championship against Jey Uso, who is still on the hunt for his first singles championship, and Bayley putting the WWE women's championship on the line in a triple threat match with Naomi and Tiffany Stratton.

It should be an exciting night of action. Let's take a look at who the CBS Sports experts feel will emerge victorious. The event streams live on Peacock at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday with a kickoff show beginning one hour before.

2024 WWE Backlash predictions

Undisputed WWE Championship -- Cody Rhodes (c) vs. AJ Styles

There are times where you just have to accept that you're getting a main event with an entirely predictable outcome. This is one of those cases. Rhodes just ended Reigns' near-historic title run to "finish the story" of winning the championship Dusty Rhodes never did. He is not dropping the title a month later in the first televised defense of that title. Luckily, Rhodes and Styles are great wrestlers who should be able to produce a fantastic match. And it is rare to have two stars of this level who have never faced each other, so that adds an extra bit of fun to the whole thing. Cody Rhodes retains the title  -- Brent Brookhouse (also Shakiel Mahjouri)

Rhodes just won one of the biggest WrestleMania matches of all time in the culmination of a two-year journey to become world champion. Having him turn around and drop the title in his first defense would be lunacy. Cody Rhodes retains the title  -- Connor Casey

World Heavyweight Championship -- Damian Priest (c) vs. Jey Uso

Priest is in much of the same spot as Rhodes, having just won the title at WrestleMania 40 and with even more need to build his legitimacy as a top-tier player. Uso simply isn't a believable world champion but he's a fine opponent to help Priest boost his resume. While I don't expect Priest to have a lengthy run with the title, when he loses it, there will be a story to the match that goes beyond an opponent winning a four-way for a title shot. Damian Priest retains the title  -- Brookhouse (also Casey)

I could see a short reign for Preist if Uso still had his momentum from September. Don't get me wrong, Uso is popular with the fans and could reignite at any moment; however, he's not an undeniable world champ right now. Priest, 41, won't get many runs at the top. Priest should look forward to a solid few months as champion operating under a more patient creative team and with Raw's most popular main eventers sidelined. Damian Priest retains the title -- Mahjouri

WWE Women's Championship -- Bayley (c) vs. Naomi vs. Tiffany Stratton

This match feels tailor-made to give Stratton her first chance to shine on pay-per-view without having her take the pin or dethrone Bayley just as her new championship reign begins. I expect Bayley retains but her program with Stratton will carry on. Bayley retains the title  -- Casey (also Brookhouse)

The recurring theme is that newly crowned champions will retain their belts. Nothing wrong with that. It's simply the cost of producing so many "WrestleMania moments." The triple threat itself should produce good action and the match is logically booked. Naomi never saw a clear conclusion to her title match against Bayley. Stratton is a growing thorn in her opponents' side and a credible contender having previously beaten Naomi. Bayley likely retains her title with the match being a transition point from Naomi to Stratton as the top contender. The newly drafted presence of Nia Jax also looms large. Bayley retains the title -- Mahjouri

WWE Women's Tag Team Championship -- The Kabuki Warriors (c) vs. Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill

WWE has huge expectations for Cargill. The AEW rookie amassed a 61-match undefeated streak in the young promotion yet is presented as an even bigger star in the WWE. Cargill's presence is second to none in the women's division but her union with Belair benefits both parties. Cargill is understandably rough around the edges. The partnership protects Cargill and validates her while giving Belair compelling work. The 2024 WWE Draft further solidified the outcome. Belair was drafted No. 1 overall to remind everyone where she sits in the pecking order. Damage CTRL was drafted to Raw to distance them from Bayley. That is only possible if The Kabuki Warriors lose their cross-brand titles. A dominant reign should follow for Belair and Cargill leading to a split and high-profile showdown. Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill win the titles -- Mahjouri (also Brookhouse and Casey)

Randy Orton & Kevin Owens vs. The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga)

The Bloodline is off in a new direction. But for Sikoa to be taken seriously as the group's new leader during Roman Reigns' hiatus, he'll need to start racking up some wins. Meanwhile, poor Orton has been jogging in place since his return from injury and could easily be slotted into a world championship program with Rhodes that carries SmackDown for months. Expect a Bloodline victory that leads to a split between the Owens & Orton makeshift tag team. The Bloodline wins  -- Casey (also Mahjouri)

The Bloodline story feels as though it will never end and that means the group needs to build some momentum after things did not go their way at WrestleMania. Sikoa is positioning himself as the shot caller of the group while Reigns is away and Tonga is a new player in the group. Those two men need this win to further establish those roles. Orton and Owens are bulletproof at this point. No loss is going to harm their standing, but it could set up their temporary alliance breaking up and moving them in more interesting directions. The Bloodline wins  -- Brookhouse

2024 WWE Draft on Monday Night Raw

Tonight’s episode of Raw features the second night of the 2024 WWE Draft, which decides which wrestlers will compete on Raw vs. SmackDown. Night 2 features six rounds, with Raw and SmackDown making two picks per round for a total of 24 picks in all. Current champs from each brand are protected, so Damian Priest, Becky Lynch, Awesome Truth and Sami Zayn will remain on Raw, while Cody Rhodes, Bayley, A-Town Down Under and Logan Paul will remain on SmackDown.

Like many wrestling fans, we all have fond memories of World Championship Wrestling (WCW) , for good and for bad. From 1988 through 2001, WCW was the tried and true brand of professional wrestling that was the competition for Vince McMahon and WWE up until the bittersweet end.

There was a time when WCW was very close to putting WWE out of business, as Eric Bischoff did literally everything in his power, underhanded and dirty tricks included, to put the nail in WWE's coffin, but to no avail. Now, all we have left are the memories of WCW and a vast library of WCW classic moments and matches.

There have been many stories about WCW and how the company died that have been well-documented. Now, Vice, along with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson have developed a new docuseries that will tell the story of Who KIlled WCW? , with new stories, interviews, and a true non-WWE perspective of how WCW's ship sank faster than the Titanic.

'who killed wcw': how to watch the new documentary, full details about the new vice series from dwayne johnson.

The four-part miniseries, Who Killed WCW? , will begin on June 4 at 10pm (EST) exclusively on VICE TV . VICE TV is well-known for their down and dirty, yet gritty documentaries on professional sports and various personalities. The hit series, Dark Side of the Ring , featured tales from wrestling's past with wrestlers who are sadly no longer with us and very controversial stories related to subjects such as the Chris Benoit Murder-Suicide Tragedy , Owen Hart's Death, and The Plane Ride from Hell, among others.

Who Killed WCW? is produced by Seven Bucks Productions, an organization founded by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and his ex-wife, Dany Garcia . This is an attempt by The Rock and his organization to breathe new life into the subject from a non-WWE point of view, where the gloves are off and there will likely be some finger-pointing to be had.

There has been much speculation about the documentary that goes along with the general excitement behind this new release on WCW folklore and what we already know about the history of WCW, including its origins dating back to the NWA and Jim Crocket Promotions eras prior to the official re-branding in 1988 .

We already know how Eric Bischoff took control over WCW in 1993, then built the company up from being an organization that lost money and was in the red to being an organization that was making money, #1 in the cable ratings for the Turner networks for several years, and nearly knocked Vince McMahon and WWE out of business thanks to the n.W.o. storyline and character evolutions featuring Sting , "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, and the rise of Bill Goldberg, among others.

As it relates to the documentary, The Rock spoke about WCW in a general sense and talked about how the company inspired him to be the "Final Boss" that he is today. He said:

"The rise of WCW, not the fall, inspired me greatly early in my career where I would eventually become, 'The Final Boss.' - The Rock

According to Kevin Nash, who plays a big role in this documentary, he tells fans and even naysayers, this documentary is the true version and/or take of how WCW died and what exactly happened that led to the company's downfall. This is not the narrative written up from previous books of WCW's demise, nor is it WWE's take on how the company died in 2001.

Former WCW personalities and wrestlers, including Nash, Booker T, Vince Russo, Eric Bischoff, Diamond Dallas Page, Goldberg, Kevin Sullivan, and others will be a part of the docuseries. They all have their stories to tell about what WCW meant to them and how the company failed to catch up to WWE's dominant and popular "Attitude Era" led by "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, The Rock, and D-Generation X, which led to WWE overtaking WCW in the ratings beginning in mid-1998.

Despite WCW's demise after being bought out by WWE in March 2001 , through the WWE Network and, of course, various social media outlets, YouTube, and podcasts, WCW remains alive today (in spirit), with a new generation of wrestling fans learning more about the company as older fans relive the nostalgia and on the good times we had with WCW during the 90s.

The legacy of WCW will live forever, and despite the bad things that may have happened towards the end of the company, the good certainly outweighed the bad and the impact WCW had on the wrestling industry can never be forgotten. WCW helped shape the wrestling business to what we know today.

Rodney Anoa’i was a high school dropout who needed direction and purpose. That’s when Rodney joined the family business in World Wrestling Entertainment. After exploding on to the scene in 1992, the 500 pound giant became “Yokozuna”, and quickly skyrocketed to WWE superstardom as he battled legends Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker and Bret “Hitman” Hart. In the ring, he became the top villain in the industry but outside the ring, Rodney was a lovable family man who always helped his friends. In 2000, the size and stature that made him a star ultimately took his life when he died suddenly at the age of 34. Yokozuna remains one of the greatest “big men” in WWE history, and his legacy lives on through his children, Justin and Keilani, as well as the grandson with his namesake, Rodney.

She is in the midst of creating an unmatched legacy in women’s wrestling history, but it hasn’t been easy, especially with the added pressure of being the daughter of The Nature Boy Ric Flair.
