The Vienna Doctoral School in Chemistry offers 17 fully funded PhD positions to be filled between early summer and the end of 2024

The University of Vienna, Faculty of Chemistry, is home to the Vienna Doctoral School in Chemistry (DoSChem). DoSChem is the largest doctoral training program in Austria focusing on the field of chemistry and closely related sciences by bringing together more than 200 doctoral students and over 50 principal investigators. Our goal is to train excellent scientists and to provide an open-minded environment that allows them to connect and experience a scientifically rich environment to carry out interdisciplinary and curiosity-driven research.

Bioinorganic Chemistry

With medicinal chemistry, synthetic chemistry, analytical chemistry, bioanalytics and cell biology.

The main emphasis at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry is put on the subject of Bioinorganic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Synthetic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Bioanalytics and Cell Biology, mainly focused on the development of novel tumor therapeutics.

The group has successfully contributed to this field for several years. Currently there are two new therapeutics developed in the group under clinical research.

The ability to work independently and collaboratively, participate in teaching activities, and contribute to research administration is expected. Proficiency in English is required, and knowledge of German is advantageous.

Description: DoSChem offers 17 fully funded PhD positions with a duration of three years, extendable with different options. Successful candidates are expected to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12 months, actively participate in teaching, and contribute to research symposia. The language of the school is English, emphasizing strong communication skills, both in writing and orally. Diversity and equal opportunities are valued by the University of Vienna and DoSChem.

How to Apply:

• Visit the DoSChem website to access current project descriptions.
• Submit your application during the open period from March to the end of April.
• Pre-selection meetings will take place in mid-May, followed by Student Interview Days.
• Final selection meetings are scheduled for June, with offers sent out by mid to end of June.
• Successful candidates must accept offers by the end of June/July.
• The 2024 cohort is expected to start in summer/fall 2024.
