Ph. D. in Management

MET Institute of Management has launched the Ph. D. Program in Management which is a post-master's programme affiliated to the University of Mumbai. Under the guidance of approved research guides of the University of Mumbai, eligible students are registered for conducting the research work in different areas in Management and on submission and approval of the Ph. D. Thesis as per the university guidelines Doctoral Degree in Management is awarded.

Programme Objective

Registered students are motivated and guided to undertake studies and research in any of the verticals in Management i.e. Marketing, Finance, HR, Operations etc. The research is done as per the guidelines laid down by the University of Mumbai for course work in Research Methodology for a period of six months followed by intensive studies and research in identified knowledge gaps so as to fulfil the larger objectives of society and the market place. The entire research work is then placed before the panel of university for assessment and declaration of result.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria are laid down by University of Mumbai vide their circular University of Mumbai circular no. Exam./Thesis/Univ./VCD/947 of 2018. Eligible students have to appear and clear PET examination conducted by the University as per their schedule.

Candidates who have cleared the University of Mumbai, PET exam or the NET-SET exam or hold an M.Phil. Degree from any recognised University, will be eligible.

Selection Procedure

Eligible candidates could apply to MET IOM Research Centre for registering as Ph.D. Students. The forms would be available on payment of Rs. 100/- online (follow the steps mentioned below). After receipt of the application and scrutiny, interviews would be conducted and the list of selected students would be put on the MET website. Details about the course are available in the referred circular.

Important Dates

The Last Date of Application accepting with brief proposal - Dec. 24, 2022. Date of Presentation in front of Panel - Dec. 29, 2022.

Application Process for a Ph.D. scholar is as under -

• Click to Apply and register yourself with Name, Surname, Email, Mobile number and Qualification.
• You will be redirected to https://eduworld.met.edu. Verify the OTP received on registered Mobile number/email. Choose any one mode of transaction:
• Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking : Make a non-refundable Online Payment of Rs.100/- through a credit/debit card/Net Banking.
• On successful transaction you will receive an email with a PDF form download link. You will need to take a print and fill the form and email its scanned copy to [email protected] and [email protected] .

You will be intimated about the Online/Offline Selection Procedure via email/SMS that you would need to attend on the Scheduled Date and Time.

• Selected candidates will fill University of Mumbai admission form and documents will be submitted for further processing to University.
• On the confirmation from the University of Mumbai, the candidate will pay course fees at MET
• Minimum duration of the course is 3 years and maximum 5 years to complete entire research work.

Programme Fee

The fees for Ph.D. in Management for the academic year 2021-22 is Rs. 65,000/- per annum excluding the fee payable to University of Mumbai as applicable.

Mumbai University PhD Admissions 2024: The University of Mumbai provides a full-time Ph.D. program in offline mode. The university accepts approximately 28 students for a three-year program. Admission to the Ph.D. program is based on merit scores in the Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET), which is followed by an interview process. The varsity will soon announce the date for PET 2024, and the admit card will be available only on the official website of Mumbai University.

The University of Mumbai will accept online applications (only) from qualified candidates for the PhD Entrance Test, i.e. PET 2024, for admission to the Faculties of Arts, Management, Fine Arts, Commerce, and Technology.  Mumbai University  conducts the PET Aptitude test for the Ph.D. program in various disciplines. Candidates who are interested in the course must submit the online application form and appear for the examination. The PET test for the PhD course at Mumbai University is usually conducted in the month of December every year. • Mumbai University PhD Entrance Test (PET) registration process 2024 is expected to begin soon.

The application form for the PET Aptitude test is likely to be released on the dates given in the following table:

Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria to apply for the PhD course at Mumbai University:

Must hold a Master’s degree in the faculties of Arts / Science / Commerce / Technology / Medicine / Ayurveda / Law / Fine Arts / Unani medicine from a recognized university OR Must have a Master’s degree by research from a recognized university OR Must have passed M.Phil Degree from a recognized university

Must have a minimum of 55% for the general category or 50% marks for the reserved category

Candidates with full-time 2 years experience in teaching in degree college or five years experience in junior college are also eligible to apply

Candidates working in National Laboratories/ Institutes/ Government/ Private organizations, nominated/sponsored by the respective employer are also eligible to apply. However, they must clear the aptitude test

Candidates must first visit the official website of Mumbai University.

On the homepage, candidates must click on the drop-down menu for 'Students' and click on 'Admissions'

Subsequently, candidates must click on the Ph.D. Portal under the Online Admissions menu.

Candidates will be redirected to the Ph.D. admissions portal where they can register themselves.

Important Points to Remember 

• Application fees are INR 500 for students in the reserved category and INR 1000 for general category students
• Candidates will choose one of the following approaches to pay the necessary fees: Demand Draft made payable to Mumbai in the name of the "Finance & Accounts Officer of the University of Mumbai." OR by cash in the University of Mumbai's Fort, Room No. 13, Ground Floor, Mumbai, 400030
• The correctly completed form and the included DD or receipt of such charge should be sent to Thesis Section, Room No. 129, 1st Floor, University of Mumbai, Fort, Mumbai-400032

Candidates who have received a valid PhD Entrance Test score are admitted to the PhD program (PET). There will be a Personal Interview in the University Center.

• Direct applications are submitted to the Mumbai University-affiliated Research Centre for the PhD program
• Candidates must submit an application fee of INR 100 in the form of a Demand Draft or cash to the relevant authorized Research Centre of the University of Mumbai within 15 working days after the release of the PhD Entrance Test (PET) results

Admission for the PhD course at Mumbai University is based on the performance in the PET entrance test conducted by the university. Certain courses accept UGC NET / SET exam  / Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering scorecards and if candidates have appeared for these exams they are exempted from the PET exam. Candidates can refer to the following procedure for PhD admissions at Mumbai University:

Fill out the Application Form: The online application form for the PET entrance examination will be released in November. Candidates must fill out the online application form through the official website of the university. The application is not accepted in offline mode

Pay the Application Fees: Once the application form is filled, the candidate must pay the application fees for the test to complete the application procedure. The Application fee is non-refundable

Download the Hall Ticket: Candidates can download the Hall Ticket for the PET examination through the official website of the university. The admit card will be released by the mid- December

Take the Entrance Test:  The PET entrance test for the PhD course is conducted in the last week of December. Candidates who have a valid admit card must appear for the test on the scheduled date and venue

Wait for the Result: The merit list of candidates is released on the official website of the university after the evaluation of the test. Candidates must wait for the result for further admission procedure

Fill out the Admission Form: Students who qualify for the PET entrance test must fill out the admission form with the concerned department at the university. Candidates must collect the admission form and submit it to the department office. The date for submission of the admission form may vary department-wise. The fee for admission is INR 100/-

Interview for Admission to PhD: Candidates who qualify for PET must apply to the Research Centre from where they want to pursue a PhD. The Candidates are invited for the interview process after analyzing the application. The interview is conducted at the respective research center. The purpose of conducting the interview is to judge the candidate’s basic knowledge about the subject and proposed research as well as the suitability and benefits of the research work at the institute

Following is the application fee for the PhD entrance examination:

PET test is conducted for admission in M.Phil and PhD courses at Mumbai University. The test is followed by an interview round which is conducted at the research centre. The following table shows the highlights of the PET:

The PhD Entrance Test (PET) conducted at the university comprises two papers- Paper I and Paper II. Paper I covers Research Methodology, Research Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge, Comprehension, and Communication.

Paper II is subject-specific. This section is based on the subject syllabus of the Master’s course offered at MU. Both the papers cover 50% of the test. Each of the papers covers 50 questions. The qualifying marks are 50 % of the aggregate of both papers.

Exemptions:

• PET is waived for candidates who qualify for the GATE, SET, NET, JRF, and holders of teaching fellowships from premier organizations like the CSIR, UGC, ICAR, ICMR, and DBT
• Additionally, MPhil candidates from accredited universities are prohibited from taking the exam

To pass the MU PET 2024, candidates must obtain the total passing score. For reserved and open categories, the combined passing marks are different. For information on the minimal passing score, see the table below.

The faculties of arts, business, science, law, and technology at Mumbai University all offer PhD degrees. Three years would pass during the course's duration. The minimum requirement for admission to a PhD program at Mumbai University is a Master's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of 55 % in aggregate.

These Universities Offer this Degree

Candidates who have passed the GATE, SET, NET, or (JRF) exams are exempt from taking the PET. Additionally disqualified are candidates who currently hold a CSIR/UGC/ICAR/ICMR and DBT Instructor Fellowship

• Faculty of Commerce and Management
• Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies

Academic Work

The PhD course load entails 18 credits spread out over a minimum of six months.

• Each student has one semester to finish their studies after being accepted into the PhD program. The course work will be included in the pre-PhD training
• The coursework for the PhD will be accessible for credit. A total of 18 credits will be awarded for the course. 18 credits must be finished by the student in a maximum of three semesters
• There would be six credits assigned to each course
• The course work will be overseen by the concerned guide(s)
• There won't be any uniform classroom instruction, but the involved teacher(s) who are engaged in directing may get a proportionate break from time to time, depending on what the relevant authority decides

Methods for Course Analysis and Evaluation

Continuous review of all theory courses for PhD course work will be the responsibility of the research center's interested and qualified faculty. External evaluations will be given a 60% weighting, with internal evaluations receiving a 40% weighting. It could consist of a lecture, case studies, homework, or in-class tests. The learner's participation in gathering resources, comprehension of the seminar work's subject, and ability to respond to questions will be weighted at 30% each, the seminar's presentation and ability to respond to questions will be weighted at 50%, and the student's punctuality, zeal, and aptitude in preparing the seminar will be weighted at 30% each. This will be evaluated by the interested instructor or teachers.

The applications for admission are open for the M.A programme at MMH College Ghaziabad , for the session 2023-24. You have to apply through the official website from the section ‘Apply for PG Admission’. There you have to register yourself by providing the required details. Girl hostel fees.

Dear Pooja, the hostel fees for girls at SGM College Karad are Rs 12,000/- per semester for a single room, Rs 9,000/- per semester for a double room, and Rs 7,500/- per semester for a triple room. The hostel fees are payable in two instalments, one in the month of June and the other in the month of December. In addition to the hostel fees, students are also required to pay a security deposit of Rs 1,000/-. The security deposit is refundable at the end of the academic year, provided that the student has not damaged the hostel property.

Ph.D. Admission Notification 2024

For the Academic Year 2024, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is a Deemed to be University funded by Ministry of Education through UGC is announcing admission notification for Ph.D. Programmes across Mumbai Campus and Hyderabad, Guwahati & Tuljapur Off-Campuses.

Number of seats and core thematic areas of research: Total seats available for all the Ph.D. Progammes is 142. The core thematic areas of research and the number of seats available under each Ph.D. Programme are given below:

For TISS Mumbai Campus:

Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria:

(1) Those clearing in UGC-NET 2024 in any of three categories are eligible to apply for the admission to Ph.D. programmes:

Category-1: Eligible for (i) admission to Ph.D. with JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Professor.

Catcgory-2: Eligible for (i) admission to Ph.D. without JRF and (ii) appointment as Assistant Processor.

Catcgory-3: Eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme only and not for the for the award of JRF or appointment as Assistant Professor

(2) For admission to Ph.D. in Social Work, clearing in UGC-NET 2024 in the subject of Social Work is the eligibility requirement.

(3) For admission to Ph.D., in Applied Psychology, clearing in UGC-NET 2024 in the subject of Psychology is the eligibility requirement.

(4) For admission to Ph.D. in Education, clearing in UGC-NET 2024 in any one of the subjects of Social Science discipline/allied fields, preferably in the subject Education is the eligibility requirement.

(5) For admission to all the remaining Ph.D. programmes mentioned in Serial Numbers 4 to 17, clearing in UGC-NET 2024 in any one of the subjects of Social Science discipline/allied fields is the eligibility requirement.

(6) Those students who are having valid JRF prior to 2024 in Social Work, Psychology are also eligible to apply for Ph.D. in Social Work and Ph.D.in Applied Psychology respectively. The valid JRF holders prior to 2024 in any subject of Social Science discipline/allied fields, preferably in Education are eligible to apply for Ph.D.in Education

(7) Those students who have cleared only NET prior to 2024 are not eligible to apply for any of the Ph.D. programmes.

Eligibility criteria of qualifying degree:

Candidates who have completed: A 1-year/2-semester master's degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed

Or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.

A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the University Grants Commission from time to time.

Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the University Grants Commission from time to time.

Selection criteria for Ph.D. admission:

(1) For those students with category 2 and category 3 of UGC-NET 2024, 70% weightage is given to their NET score and 30% weightage is to their performance in the personal interview

(2) For those students who are having a valid JRF (JRF prior to 2024 or JRF of 2024), the selection will be done based on the personal interview only. The personal interview component carries 100% weightage. The students with JRF of 2024 may also apply with their NET score along with category 2 and category 3 students where both NET score and score in Personal interview will be the selection criteria.

(3) Reservation* – Tata Institute of Social Sciences is Deemed to be University funded by Ministry of Education through UGC and follows all the norms and regulation of Government of India with respect to reservation policy. According to this, in the Central Universities and Institutions which are deemed to be Universities, the reservation of seats shall be as follows:

i. 15% of the seats for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.

ii. 7.5% of seats Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.

iii. 27% of the seats for Other Backward Classes (OBC) Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) candidates as per the Central List

iv. 10% of the seats for General-Economically Weaker Sections (General- EWS) candidates.

v. 05% of the seats in the above-mentioned categories for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) with 40% or more disability.

vi. 05% of the seats in the above-mentioned categories for Kashmert Migrants as per GoI guidelines

vii. 05% of the seats in the above-mentioned categories for Armed Forces

Mode of Ph.D. Programme: Ph.D. Programmes are offered in Full-time and Part-time mode. Both the full-time and part-time Ph.D. programme are offered only through regular mode. TISS does not offer any Ph.D. programme in distance mode.

TISS follows all the guidelines and norms issued by the University Grants Commission from time to time in regulating the Ph.D. programmes such as “ University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2022.

The full-time and part-time Ph.D. programmes follow uniform standards such as successful completion of coursework, regular presentations before the Research Advisory Committees, stipulated time period to complete Ph.D., the evaluation and assessment methods of coursework and thesis. The Ph.D. degree certificate or Ph.D. award certificate of TISS does not make any distinction between full-time and part-time Ph.D. and both are treated equally.

The part-time Ph.D. students are working professionals who join Ph.D. programme by obtaining a No Objection Certificate from their organizations/employers that assures them providing leave and other support to complete the Ph.D. work. Those students who wish to apply under part-time Ph.D. mode are required to submit a NOC from their employer/organization clearly mentioning that (i) The candidate is permitted to pursue studies on a part-time basis. (ii) His/her official duties permit him/her to devote sufficient time for research. (iii) If required, he/she will be relieved from the duty to complete the course work.

TISS encourages professionals working in development sector, government employees, people working with grassroot organizations and corporate groups to join its Ph.D. programmes through part-time mode.

The full-time Ph.D. students are not working professional and devote their full time to the Ph.D. research. They are mostly receipts of various fellowships/scholarships and are required to put their attendance on daily basis in the Attendance Register maintained in the Doctoral Students’ Office (DSO) of the Institute. They are also required to attend the research seminars, talks arranged on regular basis by their schools and the DSO. Whenever, the full-time Ph.D. students get a job, they can request for converting their Ph.D. into part-time Ph.D.

Ph.D. Coursework : All the selected candidates for Ph.D. programme – both part-time and full-time are required to successfully complete the Ph.D. coursework which is a minimum of 12 credits, including a “Research and Publication Ethics” course as notified by UGC vide D.O. No. F.1- 1/2018(Journal/CARE) in 2019 and courses on qualitative, quantitative research methodology.

A Ph.D. scholar must obtain a minimum of 55% marks or its equivalent grade in the UGC 10-point scale in the course work to be eligible to continue in the programme and submit his or her thesis.

The Ph.D. Coursework will be offered in off-line regular classroom mode during the first semester of the Ph.D. programme. The part-time Ph.D. students may join regular classes along with full-time Ph.D. students or they have to attend the Ph.D. coursework that will be organized in six modular workshops in regular off-line mode spread across the first semester.

• Category wise Vacancy position after CAP Round II

Counselling Round for MMS admission Against CAP Vacancy, will be held on 3rd February,2021. Candidates who have applied to the Welingkar Institute for ACAP seats are required to be present for counselling round on 3rd February, 2021 at 11 am. sharp, with a set of all the required documents and cheque / DD for Fee as displayed on the institute’s website.

Candidates reporting late shall not be considered.

As per the Maharashtra State GR no. EBC-2016/Pra.kra.221/shikshan-1 dated 31.3.2016 candidates belonging to reserve category or Economically Backward Class shall not be entitled for any fee benefit given by Government, for Against CAP Vacancy Seats.
