Writable Wins CODiE Award Alongside Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s Into Literature Curriculum
Writable was recently recognized as a leader in the educational technology industry, and we couldn’t be more excited to share the news! We are honored to have won our first SIIA CODiE Award alongside Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH). Writable’s guided writing practice, feedback, and assessment platform paired with HMH’s Into Literature was named as the Best Reading/Writing/Literature Solution for Grades 9-12 & Higher Education for 2020.
SIIA President Jeff Joseph commented, “Congratulations to the 2020 Ed Tech CODiE Award winners. The COVID-19 pandemic reminds us of the importance of innovative edtech products and services, such as those we honor today. This year’s class takes a special place among the many amazing products recognized across the 35-year history of the CODiE Awards.”
The quick pivot to online teaching and learning was something no one could have planned. Writable extended their program for free for the school year to provide all educators and students with a high-quality writing platform, built to support both face-to-face and online teaching and learning. The team prioritized new features and functionality to support remote learning, including adding video and audio feedback options to support teacher instruction, feedback, and differentiation. Together, we were able to continue growing great writers.
It is our primary mission, alongside our fellow education companies, to support educators during this time of distance learning. Because of this, we have also focused our efforts on growing a robust professional learning community through webinars, Twitter chats, a supportive group on Facebook, open office hours, and new assignments and learning materials. In our communities, you’ll find a focus on best practices for virtual instruction, tips and advice from EL experts, and a focus on both equity and accessibility.
Why this Award is Special
The SIIA CODiE Awards is the only peer-reviewed program to showcase education technology’s finest products and services. All of the nominated education technology products and services were first reviewed by educators and administrators, whose evaluations determined the finalists. This process places emphasis on the user and product scores are given by professionals in the field of education. SIIA members then voted on the finalist products, with the scores from both rounds tabulated to select the winners.
